Heya,

I got my racy fancy pants bike out of the way... now I'm looking for a solid commuter/touring frame. Something with nice relaxed angles, front and back eyelets for racks and fenders. I like vintage bikes for the steel frames and generally low cost. I had my mind set on a 70's Trek but I saw this super cool looking Fuji with both Canti and pivot brakes and made me think there may be some cool bikes out there I may have overlooked. Any suggestions for good frames in the $200 range.

I see lots of older Fuji, Trek, Centurion, Panasonic, Giant, etc. on ebay. I just did a search of Centurion earlier today and found @20. When I was in the market I would do a search of name brands I was interested in and watch them. I bid on several and didn't win. I finally got a great deal on an early 80's Miyata frame. Great shape, Chrom moly frame, eyelets, and plenty of clearance.

Be vigilant, they are out there.
Good luck.

I have a mid 80's Fuji Royale with a cro moly frame that makes a great commuter/tourer though I have just about run the gearing into the ground. You ought to be able to get a suitable frame for much less than $200 if you can locate one.You may want to also try Goodwill stores though I have not tried this yet some say you can sometimes find real bargains.

Contact RollingGeek on the forums. He has a chromoly GranPrix that he would be willing to sell - probably at a very reasonble price. It is a very tall bike.

I have a Dirt Research Kobruk frame and fork. it is of course a MTB frame but it is Columbus steel. rack eyelets on frame and fork, would make a fantastic commutwer. I am thinking of listing it on E-Bay however if you are interested you can have it for $135+shipping.
