I know there is a sticky about Landis in the media, but it has digressed to something else.

This thread is about announcing and discussing Floyd's appearance on The Tonight Show, Tuesday, August 8th.

I watched this.

I want to say this first: Man, oh man, do I want to believe Floyd. Gotta tell you, I loved the way Pennsylvania looked in yellow. Loved it.

Regarding the show, I haven't looked for a transcript. So, for those savvy transcript quoters, please forgive my early a.m. memory.

That said...I don't think he did poorly. Wasn't great, but he did okay. The word "ingest" made me uncomfortable, and then I heard the "L" word. No, Showtime subscribers, not "The L Word". Something else.

Check the transcript, if you can find one.

And, I'm curious. Here's a question for the doctors: If Floyd was on the juice, why didn't he test pos after Stage 17? Was it because he cheated before and after better, because his body processed the nasty fast, because the lab didn't test with the same scrutiny after they found something from an earlier test or because the damage had been done?

For me, there are two worst cases in this whole scenario. 1. Floyd cheated. That would suck. 2. We need to clean up cycling, and if you didn't get the point after we booted guys without hardcore proof - including a whole team, including a favorite (Vino) not implicated - at the start, you better believe us now. We WILL clean up this sport. We will, no matter what, even if we have to suffer this in the short term, it will better in the long.

I hope neither is true. I hope Floyd is honest, the lab made an honest mistake and we can all just love to race our bikes. I really do.

I understand the UCI's desperation to clean house. I can understand a man's desperation to win a race. Remember that book, The Perfect Storm? This could be The Perfect S**tstorm. This could have been handled better by both parties. Anything would have been better, especially in the the light of O.P., than a, "Cheater!" and a "Nuh uh!"

Maybe, if the UCI and TdF - assuming real and actual pos tests from Landis - asked, "Hey, Floyd. As you know, we're trying to clean up the sport. What's up with this?" And had done it quietly, the sport would be better off.

I just makes me wonder who is willing to work harder/cheat to achive a goal. Risk my honor to win a race; or, clean up our race after our honor has been risked.

For whatever reason, now it'll be a brawl, and no matter what the truth is, cycling loses.

No doubt. I'm waiting for the legal process to bear out all the discoverable facts, one way or the other, and I'll live with crud that is that.
