Just got back from a trip to Baseline Mountain close to Rocky Mountain House. I got up at 5am so me and my dad could get a early start. We wanted to ride the Canada Cup trails there. It took us forever to finally find the trail head (you ask why? simple, not one sign). We rode both the XC Cup trail...really fun for a XC trail:p . Then we walked/biked up the mountain. Took about 2 and a bit hours. But damn was it worth it. We got to the start of the DH Cup trail. MY GOD was that a blast. Rock garden heaven.
That is were if found a new respect for DH racers. I was able to clear pretty much all the trail (couple jumps and gaps that were a tad big for me). But I've seen some races there and those guys go fast. I expected that it you be pretty easy to go that fast but boy was I wrong. I am really amazed at how well DH racers turn/brake. Me I wasn't going half as fast as those guys. So if there are any DH racers here...you guys are nuts!
