Touring - Portland to Eugene

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hey guys, last minute little thing I might try, but I'm from FL so don't know my way around at all. I'm going to stop by Community Cycling Center and see if anyone there might have some wisdom or good maps or something.
Oh yeah, I'd be doing this tomorrow and Friday. = )
So any good routes to get from here to Eugene, then? I'd probably (stealth) camp somewhere along the way then there'd be a ride back Friday evening.
Thanks!
Matt

Bit long for a two day, though. It's also almost all farmland between Eugene and Portland...Stealthing it might be pretty rough.
For a more direct route, you can take Hwy 99, traffic is supposed to be relatively light. Never done it myself, though.

You don't have the time for the best course, i.e., along the coast: Portland to Astoria to Florence and then to Eugene. However, just going from Florence to Eugene is about 70 miles of flat riding. I wonder if you could take the coast as far as Florence and catch a bus with your bike to Eugene . . . that might be possible in two days if you can do about 90 miles per day.
