Some of the BikeForums ladies in the NYC/New Jersey area rode together and posted pictures. Go check the Women's Cycling forum. I was going to wait until after next week to suggest this, but their pics prompted me to go ahead and do it now to get the ball rolling.
I propose that the 6/1/2000 ride by GirlznGear, Helioazul, and Marcy S be designated the first official BikeForums.com Serial Ride.
Here is how it works. Now that they have ridden together, if any other BFC poster visits their area, or one of them visits another area, the visitor and resident ride together. Then each will have vicariously ridden with all the other BFC people the other rider has ridden with. Example: Let's say GirlznGear goes to Atlanta on business. While there she rides with Pete Clark, Cambronne (who will have ridden his bike from Augusta), RonH, Stumon, AlphaGeek, and anyone else from that general area who can make it. The Georgia guys will then have ridden with Helioazul and Marcy S. And so on. See?
Next week HogWild will be in New Orleans, and we hope to ride together. So that will be another BFCSR. The first week in August I may be in Houston, so I might be able to hook up with BFC people there.
I propose that the rules be loose. Best would be an actual ride, even if just a couple of miles with the visitor on a borrowed bike. If a ride is just not doable, at the very least , actual personal contact would be required to qualify - meet for coffee, a beer, lunch. In any case pictures would be a big plus. Once we get Jerseys we could wear them on the rides.
So what do you think? Maybe Joe could set up a forum just for Serial Ride reports.
