I'm sitting here watching "Will and Grace" and the pretense is that they're at a high-priced auction. In one scene you can clearly see what seems to be a Colnago-Ferrari CF-3. Can anyone confirm? And for those wondering, yes... my wife agrees I'm a bike-geek.

maybe it was local to chicago, but during that show i did notice the lance commercial for Comcast, our local cable company (recently changed name from AT&T cable) - extensive bike racing shots.

I saw the bike last night too for auction, but I can't be for sure. I guess it was one of the silent auction prizes??? They didn't mention anything about it on the show, just left it sitting out.

Anyone else know anything about it?

For the other person, I got notification from my condo association that ComCast bought AT&T. We need to fill out our forms and let them know what cable channels we have so we don't get overcharged.... ??? I had no idea AT&T was selling their cable services. Does that mean they sold their internet services too because I have high speed cable from them too.

Comcast bought their broadband service. I'm not sure about dial up.

I saw the Will & Grace last night too but didn't notice what kind of bike either.

A couple weeks ago on "Good Morning Miami" they had a Santa Cruz Blur "fall off a truck" Maybe it was my husbands, 5 months is a long time to wait for a frame.

On the AT&T thing...They just sent paperwork to consolidate our cable and internet accounts, now they do this. They already changed our email address once when Excite went under.

Bicycles sneak into mass media a little bit at a time......am I the only person who remembers an otherwise generic 1973 cop flick called "Cops and Robbers," which ends with two bent NYPD officers in a car in Central Park unable to flee as they find themselves surrounded by a group of racing cyclists? This group contained some of the best US riders of the time; Jack Simes, Dave Chauner, and others.

I remember that Seinfeld had a Klein mountain bike hanging in the background.

They've been running it here in the Seattle area too.

Yeah... from what I understand, it actually belonged to Michael Richards (Kramer) who's also an avid mountain biker. I believe for several seasons, the fork was actually facing backwards as it was hung on the wall.

The funny thing (or maybe not so) is that I once noticed a coworker also had a green Klein Attitude in his office everyday. One day I asked him if he wanted to go do some riding and he said, "oh I don't actually ride it... it's just there for looks." Poor bike. |8^( I responded with, "what? Are you a Seinfeld fan?" He just stared back dumbfounded.

I saw W&G and leapt up from the couch to see if I could tell what the bike was. All I could tell was that the saddle looked to be a Selle Italia. Yeah, I've turned into a bike geek too.

I remember a few years ago that Tom Hanks was in a movie (Man With One Red Shoe? It was around the time of Bosom Buddies) where he rode a bike. Don't remember the bike but in one scene he does a nifty trackstand at a light.

Well, it certainly looked a lot like this:

I guess at least one of the writers or producers have some bike-clue. It's fitting that bike would be in a high-priced snooty auction considering the pricetag on them. They're also produced in limited numbers I believe. Beautiful bike though.

If I ever win the lottery, which I won't because I don't play, I won't quit my job or quit my Ph.D. program or moon anyone. I'll just buy that bike.

Is the lottery really just a tax on those who don't understand probability?

By the way...I wouldn't have noticed that beautiful bike if it had to share screen time with Grace. Is she sexy or what???

That Colnago certainly looks like the one on the show. Certainly is a handsome machine.

yes...yes it is :D

I actually ran a case on that for a debate once....called for the house to abolish state run lotteries because they're just an insidious form of taxation on the poor

Ouch !

Just to expand this thread a little more, In an old episode of Friends that was on last night, there was a bike shop in the background of one scene and it definitely had a Cannondale in the window. Which model I didn't catch but it was there.

Has anybody else seen it ?

Here's my 2 cents.
Never watched W&G. Don't even know which network it is on or what night.

Seinfeld did have a green Klein hanging near the bathroom.

Comcast (my cable company) bought AT&T about a year ago.

In The Man With One Red Shoe the violin was much more expensive than the bike. I know, my "good" bike cost $3000. My violin was an inexpensive one, it only cost $1800.

I suppose the lottery is a "tax" on the poor. On the occassion when I play there is always someone in line who probably can't afford to play and appears to make less money than me (clothes) but s/he is buying $20+ worth of tickets. They aren't paying a tax they buying pieces of hope. That's what I'm buying. :)

I thought the Klein bike on Seinfeld ended up being takend out and replaced with a Specialized. There was some big to-do about that a few years ago. After that happened, I noticed all of the sudden they would walk down the street and have conversations in front of a bike shop that had Specialized all over it.

Never seen W&G, and TMWORS is a pretty funny movie.

Edit: Sorry, typos.

Have any of you guys seen the movie 25th hour yet? It is a great movie, and I liked it even more when they show the living room of the main character(Edward Norton) and he has a lightspeed titanium cross bike leaning on his wall. pretty cool if you ask me...

Btw: anyone ever notice Wesley Snipes was wearing a Colnago racing cap in "White Men Can't Jump" ?
