I am looking for a "lightweight" cruiser or comfort type bike with just a coaster brake and single or three speeds internal hub. Something easy to lift into and out of vehicles. Any ideas on what models are available? The less expensive the better.

If you want to be really cool, get yourself a single-speed track bike set up for the road, with hand brakes, fixed gear or with freewheel.

You will fly like the wind!

Lightweight frames with horizontal dropouts are not exactly mass market items.
Bianchi Milano is an Al, 7speed, hub gear cruiser.

Singelspeed MTB (http://www.sheldonbrown.com/singlespeed.html)frames are worth a look.
The Bianchi PUSS frame is a Al MTB frame for singlespeed buildup.

Walmart has aluminum frame cruisers that are relatively light compared to a steel frame. If you want better quality and a 3 speed internal hub Trek and Schwinn have some nice cruisers with aluminum frames. They cost a lot more of course so it depends on if long term reliability is an issue.
