Hey every body. Well I went to the bike shop yesterday. To order a easton ec70 seat post. They said I would be best with the thompson elite. It is 79.99 and the easton is 109.99. They said I would better off with the thompson and that I might over tighten the carbon and then it would break. Also even a sponar rider said he prefred the thompson over the easton. Well should I go with the easton or thompson. Were they telling the truth or just tring to sell me junk.

They are both excellent seat posts, you wouldn't go wrong with either purchase. I have the Elite on a bike I ride daily, I use the EC70 on the bike I use for faster and longer rides. The carbon post does seem to dampen some of the forces coming up the seat tube; just make sure the tube is grease free when you install a carbon post and secure it as you would any other post, don't overtighten the clamp regardless of the type post used. I've used both posts for two years now with no mechanical problems. Another good option is one sold by Supergo, their brand is called Weyless and I've had good results with that post also.

I have the EC70 post and I like it. I have seen the Thompson posts at my LBS and they are a quality post. My post is about 8 months old and I've put a little over 3000 miles on it. I like the adjustability of it the most. I don't think you can go wrong with either seat post.
