What is the difference, besides the obvious and the fact that there are two more teeth per ring. Are there any user experience pros & cons about either? Any info. appreciated.

Thanks,

Doesn't have anything to do with the number of teeth on the chairings. The four arm crank is the newer model. The difference between the four arm and five arm cranks is weight reduction. Four arms instead of five. Four chainring bolts instead of five. The four is obviously newer. With the advent of carbon fiber cranks and competition from TruVativ, Shimano chose to keep up with the trend for lighter is better.
