When flying to a location and planning to tour and camp starting at the airport where would/could you store the bike travel case while you are on the road? I am looking for creative ideas. I would like to tour the SE US, Hawaii, etc and would like to know how you have stored such items.

Thank you,
Patrick

Generally, if you will pay a bit to a LBS in the location you are going to they will store for you. The payment is for their putting together your bike when removed from the box and the reverse when leaving. But you can negotiate whatever it is that you want. I have yet to be charged to store if I pay them $20-25 to put the bike together and do a little tuning.

You can generally find an LBS, or three, and make arrangements before your departure. So don't have to find and figure out once on the ground.

hello;
Before 911, I found that some airports had what was called "left luggage" areas. In these places you could stash articles up to 30 days for a small fee (bike boxes about $20.00 Canadian for 3 weeks). This way I could cycle to airport, disasemble the bike, and box it right at the airport.

Now that security is a major problem at airports they might not allow this any more so you may have to arrange a local bike shop to pick you up at airport and store the box at their shop for a small fee OR maybe you tour around with a sign of their shop attached to the bike for free advertisement.;)
