Does anyone know if there is a "Ride Across Maryland", so some such venture? Going West to East, or visa versa, would be a fun ride. If there is a link anyone is aware of for same, I would appreciate knowing. Getting tired of these old flat lands along the ocean. Thanks.

On a cross country tour a bunch of years ago Scapin I was in the western part of Maryland, near where west virginia pinches thru. Nice and hilly and pretty, typical appalachians country. I camped illegally in a West Virginia park and the cops rousted me out in the wee hours of the morning.

I told them I 'never had any problem camping in Maryland!'

They replied, 'well, what state are ya in now?'

I was tempted to answer 'a state of shock...' but i figured they would not appreciate the joke!

There was an article about the "Cycle Across Maryland" tour in "Adventure Cyclist' Magazine just this month! That's the magazine put out by the Adventure Cycling Association.

Info about CAM is at this link. (http://www.onelesscar.org/cam_info.htm) It is scheduled for June 19 - 25, 2003

BTW Adventure Cycling Association is a great organization for touring cyclists. The Adventure Cycling site is here. (http://www.adv-cycling.org/) They have a lot of info on line and even non-members can view their archive of articles.

MikeR - Thanks for both links. Just what I was looking for. Sounds like a good ride and I hope to make it.
