im just wandering if anyone here rides a trek 6000, and if you do what kind of components you got on it, just trying to get some nicer stuff for my bike.
Thanks

I rode a 6000 for about a year. I traded it for a 7000 for the better gear. The XT on the 7000 seemed to shift more quickly and is "snappier", if that is a good term. Since then I tried a Fuel 90. Big mistake. Heavy and a lot of work to ride. Only took half a season before going back to a hardtail with all XT running gear and Avid mechanical brakes. Is really an ideal ride (for me). Should have kept the 7000, as that is essentially what I am back to, other than my new MTB is steel, which provides a nicer ride. The biggest improvements I can suggest are the XT running gear, Avid disk brakes and the SID fork. At 200 pounds, I found the SID SL to be the biggest single improvement. The Avid brakes are second (or first when it is wet out). But the 6000 was a nice ride and you can't go wrong up-grading the components on it.

:) I use my 6000 for my winter beater bike. The only mods I have done to it are, studded tires, lights and a rear fender. This bike seems to love all the slop on the roads and trails.
