froze

My handle is froze, sorry that is the only name I can provide since my privacy is important (no I am not publicly famous). I live in Bakersfield California where bike riding is a pleasure for the most part until the summer heat gets above 100 degrees, than you can't carry enough water to ride any distance. So for about a month out of the year I don't ride due to the heat.
My main bike is a road bike that was built up from a crash that totaled my first frame. So the frame is a 84 Trek 660 with Reynolds 531cs butted tubing that now has almost 70,000 miles on it. All of the components are Suntour Superbe and the darn stuff won't break; some of the components (hubs and brakes) were purchased as early as 79 and have well over 80,000 miles, with the rest put on over time until 84 when the crash happened. That was the last time I had a crash so I guess I could get the safety reward for no crashes in 70,000 miles! :D
I raced (not top stuff) from 79 till 89 then stopped due to boredom and people attitudes changed to snotty on the bicycling circuit where I lived at the time. But in 94 I dug out the old bike and started riding again but this time for physical conditioning and not for racing. I love to ride in the mountains around Bakersfield and the biking crowd here are more friendly then from where I came originally.
I also own a Giant Rincon that has Shimano XT but barely ride it. In the attic there is a Schwinn Traveller that has Suntour VX and a mix of other mid level stuff; that bike was my keep outside in all weather ride on the beach (including in the ocean water) beater bike that is now in disrepair that I am going to start restoring this summer just for fun. But I am in the market for a new bike but I will ask this question later.
I am married and have 2 children living at home and none of the 3 ride bikes except for around the block :(
Well that is about all I can say, which was probably more than you all wanted to know, but it's late and I'am just jabbering.:p
