I rode from my work to the gym at 0020(12:20AM) this morning.
Worked out for my usual two and a half hours and rode home from there.
As I come down my street, I hear these weird "popping" noises.
As I come near a corner, a minivan sort of squeals around and slows down.
She waits for me to go by and then throws a newspaper into a driveway.
I get 700 feet from my house and the same action occurs with a rival newspaper delivery.
If I was one of those unfortunate ones that try to "stealth it", I would've had 10 lbs of "Good Reading" for breakfast.

Many cities here in FL require front and back lights. I don't need anybody to tell me it's good to have them---the more you are seen, the better. Plus, it helps the rider see. I don't understand why every cyclists doesn't have lights.

When I read the first post and saw "wierd popping noises" my first reaction was oh boy, gunfire. :o Oops.

Ever since I went with a homebuilt 20W narrow spot front headlight, motorists who often used to pull out in front of me now wait for me to pass.

Yep, get a nice strong rear light, and your choice of a decent road light, or a great visibility light.

I run a 600 candlepower LED light for the front of my folding bike (mostly "to be seen"), and a TL-1000 for the back. I plan on getting a 1w Luxeon Cateye for the front to replace that 600 candlepower unit...the 600 isn't "watertight" like you would think looking at the o-rings that are inside of it (Serfas brand)....it fialed on me in a heavy rain. One strike and it's out when it comes to lighting my bike.
