you can get both in either 4 or 5 ring.

anyone know how much the e-13 weighs? it's plastic whereas the race face is aluminum, so i'm guessing it's lighter but who knows.

I have owned both, and they do their job well.

However, if you are going to combine the bash guard with a chain guide, I'd go with the e Thirteen. You can get their guide as a single or a double chainring (shiftable) type.

I just bought a race face bashguard to go with my race face crank and it looks and works great, it's also cheaper.

i would go with the e-thirteen becuase its plastic. plastic is lighter and wont fatigue like the aluminum. granted it can crack, but the high impact plastic (im guessing Makrolon is the name brand for a poly carbonate-like plastic) is insanely tough. plus the aluminum can bend and interfere with your chain line.

or you could make on like i did. took me two hours using 3/8" poly carb. i got a 12" X 14" sheet from tap plastics for $5. i took a scrap piece of this stuff and hit it as hard as i could with a crow bar...just a scratch.

The e13 actually weighs more than the race face bash. Someone on the other forums weighed it coming in at about 300g whereas the raceface is about 150g. I truthfully think the e13 is overdoing it a bit if you're not into downhill, djing, or freeride.

I also wanted a bash that was poly carb, but lighter weight so I went with the fsa clear bashring. Its a couple of mm thinner than the e13 and weighs about 150g. If you want the lightest weight bashring tho, check out the spot bash less than 100g.

get the E-13 hands down!!!

ive got the e-13 works a treat. no complaints.

ok newbie question here i have an 08 trek 4500 are these bash gaurds pretty much the same as for fit with 4 bolt or 5 bolt being the main differences or how do I find the right size?
