Actually the problem is not with the brakes themselves. It is actually the cable. I bought some cables and housing, which turned out to be teflon-coated cables. I cut the housing fine (dremel tools rock!) and I hooked up the cables up to the brake. I had them adjusted just right, but when I took them out on the road to test braking, the cable just slipped through the pinch bolt! I went and tightened it, and then it slipped through again! I'm really not happy. I actually payed extra for these cables! Is there any way that I can stop this from happening.

Never had teflon coated cables so I'm just guessing. What about scraping the teflon off of the cable where it clamps?

the problem is that the teflon is in between the strands in the cable. Also, I'm afraid that I will fray the cable where I scrape. Thats why I changed the last pair of cables.

Or use a flame to melt the teflon off the bit you are attaching. Not sure what the melting point will be. other option is to put a bit of solder on as a stop.

Careful when you heat it, because burning teflon gives off phosgene gas - highly toxic.

hmm. I suppose that eliminates heating the teflon.
