Introductions - New from Madison, WI

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hello all,
I just joined due to practicality - I saw a thread I wanted to post to, but don' have an account.
I've lived in Madison, WI for the last ten years and it is a haven for bicyclists - both commuters and recreational riders - the city has wonderful bike paths!
Here is a shot of me and my trusty steed - a rebuilt 1984 Trek 520 Touring bike - I hope to tour in Germany some day. If any of you have done international touring, esp Europe, it would be interesting to hear your stories.

Welcome to Bike Forums!
Check out the Touring sub-forum. If you have questions about touring in Europe, start up a thread. You'll get some good responses.
BTW, you're right about Madison and cycling. I love riding west of there in the hills of western Dane and Iowa Counties. Lots of Madison folks in the forums and they're good people.

Hey looks like your riding on the west side towards Cross Plains. What kind of riding do you like to do and what sorts of times are you out. It's always nice to ride with new people.

Hi folks. I've lived in Madison since the 60s. Came to college here and never left. There are lots of others who have done the same.
Join the local "bikies" listserv at: www.danenet.org/bcp and get involved in local bicycling advocacy if you are not already there.

mtneuman1 is probably one of the most prodigous, if not the most prolific poster on the listserv he mentioned. I find out about all kinds of local bike info on there. Most notably recently was the completion of the missing link path. Yay for bypassing Park Street traffic.
