I am almost there.

My best friend wants to buy my car from me, I still owe 1 year on the payments but it only has 32k miles and runs like new....

I agreed to sell it to him for the exact amount left on my loan...

Lets see how it goes =)

Wish me luck !!!!!!

I lived car free in West Palm a few years back and found it quite easy... had to do a lot of sidewalk riding in that town because the actual streets are just plain DANGEROUS! big wide sidewalks made things easy

I live in Hollywood FL, on the east coast just south of Fort Lauderdale, and just north of Aventura / North Miami beach... Kind of in between =)

Traffic out here is not so bad, at least not as bad as Miami ...

My car has been parked since Dec of 05, I have only used it a few times since then and I could have used my GF's car or my motorcycle in most cases... I just have it sitting there, rotting away.. paying full cover insurance + car payments for nothing...... I have to recharge the battery every time I want to start it because it gets weak from lack of use....

Brings back memories. These observations are clues. I knew the I'd dump my car when my parents visited and my dad tried to drive my car. He couldn't get it moving because the emergency brake had been on through the winter and the shoes had rusted to the drums. When he asked me when I had moved the car last I honestly couldn't remember. So why was I paying insurance on the thing? Yes I admit I was being stupid.

99% ready !!!

I completed the payoff over the phone today....

The only thing left is for my friend to come over with a check, and I'll hand him the keys.....

... shaking in my boots... lol

Regarding South Florida, especially Miami and outlying areas-
I always consider it a little patronising when my friends and coworkers with cars tell me to "be careful," but, uh....Be careful, OK? :o

Here is the new hauler !!!!!! =)

I got it for $ 80, the guy I got it from just put new grips, tires and tubes + fully sanded and painted it!!

It just needed the BB cleaned and re-packed... Did that this afternoon & lubed the chain... Runs real smooth =)

looks like GG Allin to me... although I don't think GG ate his poo... he liked to fling it about... I've seen him eat a bananna after he tried anally inserting it.... :p met him once in Burlington, VT must've been like 1987 or 1988... nice guy ;)

What a nice role model for Kris.Yeah, I can't imagine the "perpetually-offended" that usually haunt this subforum would be fans of GG Allin. But hey, a couple savvy citizens recognized him.

Fordfasterr, that's a seriously sweet ride, and Bass is a good choice to celebrate!

hauling beer sure does bring back some memories :p

quite a few years ago I was living in a rented house in the mountains of Vermont and would ride down to the local country store everyday for my brew (I use to knock 'em back pretty good)... the store was only a half dozen miles away but there was a 600' hill to go over... the ride to the store wasn't too bad, unless it was snowing, but the ride back carrying my load of beer was a real challenge... sometimes I would stop before the climb and have a beer...

a 35 lb bike, a > 20 lb messenger bag, a 600' climb, snow flying, temps in the 20's.... damn... with the proper motivation, anything is possible

Hi Fordfasterr :) I'm curious about something. Is the trike your only bike?

No, I have a few more bikes =)

My main commuter / training bike is an ebay steel road bike (59cm). I run it with tuffy tire liners to reduce the chance of flats ... I have a rear fender on it to keep the grit off of my backpack.

I have a track bike that I use only at the velodrome ...

I have a spare road bike from 1987 ... schwinn world sport frame, a bit 2 small for me so I am looking to sell it.. I used it as a single speed for 2 months and its super light and fast. (57 cm)

Then I have a walzmart schwinn varsity aluminum road bike for my g/f (and occasionally my friends borrow it when we go for rides in town or at the crit course)..

=)

just curious, how tall are you?
and is it a good idea to buy a bike online without test riding it yourself?

haha good going on being carless. i dont have a license so i dont have to worry about that but i should be getting one even if i wont be owning a car (insurance will be costing less).
and i hope to be making the choice to be carless one day.
