hay guys,

I recently acquired a 700c hybrid frame and noticed that it has gigantic tire clearance. If I removed the kickstand and filed the front brake booster bridge a bit I'm almost completely sure that I could fit some 2" tires.

My question is if anyone has done anything like this before, and if so, how did it come out? I don't expect or require much performance; going across some rocky trails on giant wheels at a moderate pace would be sufficiently cool.

Do you really need giant knobbly tyres for that. Ive ridden rocky mountain trails with luggage on 32mm tyres. Get out and try it with your std rubber.

Well yeah, I can go across whatever I want on my road bike, if I want to. The constant shock/vibration and lack of sufficient traction make it less than amusing for more than a little while though.
