Bicycle Mechanics - Where to buy 2004 Bonty Race X Lite Hub body?

Does anyone know where I can buy a hub body for a 2004 Bontrager Race X Lite rear wheel? It has DT Swiss hubs, but I have no clue what model the hub is - this would be good to know so I can do my own research if necessary.

Try dtswiss.com ... maybe they have a tech support person who can help you figure out which one you've got.

Those hubs have serial numbers. If you're trying to replace one you may need to buy it from Trek.

How do you know it has a DT hub? I have a set of Bontrager Race and may need to replace the freehub. Trek/Fisher LBS said they can easily get it (~$25) but did not elaborate. However, I'm like you - I like to know about the components.

I took off the freehub body but could not find a manufacturer's name on it. I did see some stamped numbers. My freehub required an 11mm hex bit. I believe others (like Shimano) require a 10mm bit. Is the 11mm feature a clue to the manufacturer? Note - I could not find an 11mm hex bit, but turns out 7/16" (= 11.113mm) worked just fine.

Essentially, about six months ago, I had an instance or two when the freehub was not free to rotate - the freehub would push the chain forward. I removed the freehub and o-ring seal and lubed it with Phil Wood Tenacious Oil by dripping about a 1/4 of bottle through it to flush out the old stuff. Since then the freehub bearings "sound" dry. The bearings rumble when the freehub is still and with the wheel spinning. I feel as if I ruined the factory grease with the oil. I've seen grease injector for Shimano freehubs, but I've never seen said for other freehubs. However, others (like Sheldon Brown) recommend dripping an oil into the freehub. I continue to ride it and I seem to only be aware of the bearing rumble when the bike is in the stand, and tell myself if I ever come across a compatible freehub, then I'll buy it. However, I am not sure what's compatible.

This is one reason that I don't like Shimano-wannabe hubs like these rebadged Formula ones. If they're not going to back it, they shouldn't make it. Or at least they should make it accept a standard Shimano freehub body so there's a way to address these problems.
