Cyclocross - Any Ibex Experience?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm looking to get back into cycling, and the Ibex X-Ray Sport has caught my eye. I like it because it looks as though it is capable of being good on road and off, though I will probably be more likely to ride on road. Does anyone have any experience with this bike? I'm not too concerned about the assembly on the bike. I'd appreciate any input. Thanks.

Let us know. The parts setup looks good for this price - the triple front is more oriented toward fun riding and all around biking than racing, but that's what you're looking to do. Should be a decent enough bike to get you going again.
I suspect the wheelset's made from cheese, but if it's heavy enough to be reliable then that's fine. The tradeoff is usually light / strong / cheap - pick two. Still, really good wheelsets can be had for reasonable prices if these fail you.

My experience with Ibex was fantastic (both the level of service and the quality of the bike)...I just got an X-Ray Race about 2 weeks ago. I've put about 150 miles on it so far and love everything about the bike...If you are interested in cross racing, I'd get the race version...otherwise, the Sport version looks like it would be a great bike.
I own two Ibexes (Ibexi?). My first was the X-ray - the 05 "race" model. I was happy enough with this bike, after about 5K miles using it as my main commuter (40 miles daily rt) and occasional mtn bike to buy a road bike from them. I agree about the service & quality. Couldn't be happier with both bikes.
I feel like I've got two great bikes for what I easily could have spent on just one.

I have an Apogee MTB and a Aprisa Elite Roadie from Ibex. My Apogee did not come with the advertised rear shock but rather some off-brand made in China thing that would not hold a charge from my shock pump. I replaced it with a Fox Vanilla and no other problems. Great folks to deal with. I love both bikes.
The thing is the level of components you get for your money (my one strange anomoly aside) and that is where Ibex truly shines.
My Aprisa is a 17.8 pound wonder (added a carbon post, seat and handle bar) that is quite a racer. Much more bike than this beginner can fully utilize yet. Full Ultegra components, neuvation wheels that are weightless (grin).
Good luck!

Thanks for all the input. I'm not looking to race, so I think the Sport model will work for me. It sounds like dealing with Ibex is a positive experience. I'll let you know what I decide. Thanks again.
