Hi all. Very exciting day. Just got my first new bike since my '91 Diamond Back Apex. A Cannondale Rush 800. Love it! Just got back from its first ride and although I had a blast, the whine coming from the brakes drove me crazy! I test rode a lot of bikes in the last month and I remember some of them had the same whine. Doesnt seem to change when I brake. Just always there! Anyway, is this a normal thing with disc brakes that will go away with the brake in or is it an adjustment issue. Unfortunately the shop where I bought it is about four hours away and wont be getting out there for a few weeks. Thanks, Eric

Sounds like your rotors are rubbing. Make sure your wheels are centered in the dropouts and make sure the quick releases are *tight* so the wheel doesn't slip out of alignment as you hit rocks, roots, etc. Also make sure the calipers are centered on the rotor.

If it's a new bike, take it back to the shop and have them sort it out.
