I was thinking it would be interesting to ask what is your longest ride? Group, tour, solo whatever what is your personal record. Any big goals or long rides you are planning for when it warms up?

Longest in a single day: 293km. Gold Coast, Tweed Coast, Mullumbimby, Nimbin, Murwillumbah and back home again. Magnificent scenery for those who haven't been here yet.

I've also done a couple of 1300km tours. One in Victoria (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?threadid=17590&highlight=Victoria) a few months back, another in South Queensland (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?threadid=4144) in November 2001.

I better shut up now.

Well, I've gone on about this before, but at the risk of being a bore:

Ride Across Indiana 2001, 162 miles, 7:32, exceeding pain afterwards.

Hey! You're from Illinois, have you ever done RAIN? If not, and you are interested in a great "longer" ride, I would recommend it.

I have considered the National 24 Hour Challenge, out of the Grand Rapids (MI) area, but it is in mid-June and I never felt ready for that type of effort that early. And now I am in Colorado and there are plenty of events out here...

Perhaps the Triple ByPass. Has anyone done that event?

530km in 2 and a half days.

First day was from Mount Kosciusco to Queenbeyan = 220km
Second day was from Queenbeyan to Moss Vale = 185km
Third day was from Moss Vale to sydney = 125km

5 mates and myself did it to raise money for the Sydney childrens hospital and we successfully raised $14,500.

BTW. this was in Australia

The longest ride for me was 218 miles from central Mass to ustate Vermont and back. Round trip took 12 hours 46 minutes, offered great scenery and friendly people. This year I'm looking for 250 in 1 day, I don't know though, I'm gettin old.

My longest was 168 miles in one day. I really am not looking to beat that one. I have found that after I have ridden about 100 miles, I have had all the fun I am going to have cycling on that day. So it is time to stop. I mean I CAN go farther. But it brings to mind this story. A guy sees this man hitting his own head with a hammer. "Why are you hitting your head with a hammer?" REPLY "Because it feels so good when I stop."

107 miles as a loaded tourer on a hot, windy day.

I have a 1200 mile, two-week jaunt planned for this summer, travelling "all over" Minnesota.

Wow, you guys give me inspiration. For me, I did 126 miles, starting from Boston to my former house in Connecticut. I rode that one solo in around six hours. I suppose I could have gone further, but, home with a fridge full of ice-cold brewskis was a good reason to stop riding.

My longest ride was about 20 years ago, from Mexicalli to San Filipe in Baja California, Mexico. About 5,000 riders went along, including factory tandem teams. I went with a group from San Diego. The 130 mile trip was very hot. It took me over seven hours, as I recall. When I arrived in San Filipe, I got off my bike in front of a liquor store, went in and bought a six pack. I consumed the whole six pack, laid down on the concrete sidewalk, and went to sleep with people stepping over me. Upon awakening several hours later, I partied all night in this little town that was totally taken over by bikers. A motor home with a big bike trailer took us back to San Diego the next day. Great trip! I still have the Univega I rode in this annual event. Does anybody know if they still have it?

My longest ride on a single day was 120 km. I always wondered how pro guys do 250 - 300 km...

My shortest and longest rides were two consecutive days of a fully loaded tour to Newfoundland and the Maritime Provinces.

1. Shortest full cycling day: from La Malbaie to Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré (in the Charlevoix area, just East of Québec City. Gorgeous scenery, but killer hills. Left La Malbaie early in the morning and arrived in Baie-Saint-Paul around 4:00 p.m. (50 km done). Climbed the hill East of Baie-Saint-Paul by 7:30 p.m. (75 km done). Arrived at destination between Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges and Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré 1 hour later. The last section was only ondulating, but mostly downhill, obviously.

2. Longest cycling day: the day after: from Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré to Trois-Rivières: 210 km. I spent a few hours of that day meandering in Québec City. Had it been a normal day, I might have stopped 20-30 km sooner, but I wanted to reach home... Except for a killer hill at the start (15% downhill followed by a shorter 12% uphill), terrain had a few minor hills, then became totally flat... except for a short uphill near home.

Wichita Falls - haven't been in a while. About 13 years, but I'm thinking about giving it a go this year.

Longest ride this year, 53 miles yesterday. Believe I could've done 62. I think I will sign up for the 62-miler about 3 weeks from now.........

I have done 89km with one bottle of water and no food and no patch kit etc on a MTB with a frame size about 14cm too small..... at the age of 16 I now have a 23" (58cm) road bike and I have managed 85km in one day. Got my first metric century in just over a week!!! 100km.....fantastic milestone. Got two others soon after too.... gonna be awesome.

Sounds familiar. That wasn't one of the recent Hotter 'N Hell rides was it?

I did the one in 2001 and recall it being around 104 with a bit of wind. That was the only time I've ever had a flat caused by a stray piece of barbwire.

Longest single day was approx. 160 miles, followed up by another 160 miles the next day - from the metro Detroit area to a bit west of Rochester NY, enroute to Boston. Then the tailwinds died!!! :D
Longest tour was a year or two before that, a perimeter ride of Lake Huron (cutting across the Georgian Bay), approx. 1000 miles in 12 days. The weather was not good, lots of rain and even one night of frost. Time reference: the second day of the trip was the day Elvis died (or did he?!?!)

Longest in a long time this past Saturday. I managed 65 miles with an average slightly over 15 mph. Supported ride in Lancaster. Beautiful day, and my Brooks saddle was key.......no pain!, at least in the behind; although my legs were about fried.

Just completed a Century at White Sands Missle Range. Actually the total milage was 108 with the first 50+ a steady climb and the last 50+ into the wind (what else). Wanted to do a century one more time - turn 65 in Oct.

I just did a ride today of 80km...felt like 140km though! It was all hills (Waitakere Ranges, West Auckland) and yeah. I bonked cause i didnt eat dinner the night before, but my legs are sore which mean it was taxing on both energy AND muscle strength.

Longest ride 200 miles, Baddeck to Baddeck, counter-clockwise, in one day.

That would be yesterday's 300k brevet (riding distance 344k, including to and from the start/finish). Took about sixteen hours, with pretty bad headwinds the last 120k and supercooled rain the last 30k. Not sure if I will do the 400 in three weeks.

Multiday: Paris-Lisbon in 1999, 4600k/49 cyling days/4 rest days.
