Yep, I went to watch it last night. Two words sum it up: absolutely hilarious. Practically everything happens in the most cliche or "no, they just didn't" way possible. The entire crowd was cheering through most of the movie.
Something tells this may become a cult hit.
The joys of owning a bike: no parking worries around baywalk, and I got some good exercise going to and from. Plus it seems everyone is going ga-ga about my giant halfway....that bike is just too cool.

Good to know. Ricky Bobby was good, descent was good, and I'm going to this one soon. I can't remember the last time I saw 3 good ones in a row.

Don't expect a serious movie, I will say that much.
SoaP ROCKED! Went to see it with a large group of TotalFark (http://fark.com) members from the area at the local Studio Movie Grill. Only thing better than Snakes on a Plane is Snakes on a Plane and it's corresponding drinking game! (We already had a couple beers before the movie started too).

My brother saw it last night and invited me to go with him and our friends to see it again. I passed up on it. The last time I went to a theater was 2004 when I went to go see Alien VS Predator. I swore the next movie I went to go see in a theater wouldn't dissapoint me. In all likelyhood the next movie I'll go see in a theater will be that Rambo 4 thats coming out.

Dude, I didn't even realize it was a movie until 2 days ago! I am so on my way to see it. It's hard to get a better premise for a movie...except maybe Indiana Jones.

I am waiting until they sell it for 1.5$ per tape at a garage sale when I might consider talking the guy down to .25c and even then might still need a big fatty to watch it. It looks beyond stupid, on par with anaconda and the ever dreadful "the soap fell in the shower and I bent over"...
I'm so glad to hear that... I've been looking forward to this movie for a long time. The last time I was in Vancouver airport, the aiport information screens had a little scrolling "Did you know...?" thing. One of them was "Did you know that many movies, such as 'Pacific Air Flight 121', are filmed at Vancouver Airport?"
Without even thinking, I found myself shouting "It's not 'Pacific Air Flight 121'!!! It's 'Snakes on a Plane'!!!!!". Got lots of funny looks. Didn't really mean to say that out loud... :o
I'll look for the DVD in a few days :D. I doubt that's one they'll release in theatres here.

ok, out of pure curiousity, why is there any excitment about this movie, I just don't get it, and I love a good bad action horror thriller. This movie seems predictable and weak. The plot line is almost beyond ridiculous, and I know fiction is fiction, but there is a limit.
I really wanna know, I saw the ads for this and turned the channel almost instantly it looked so bad. I figured another b-rated movie that could afford to pay a rated actors whose careers are on that wonderful downslope called a nosedive.

See, you almost get it. Pretty much it's a massive parody of all action movies. It's "the one ring" of action parodies.

ahhhh I didn't get that this was meant to be a parody. So its like scary movie for action flicks....that makes much more sense.
I don't know that it's meant to be as obvious a parody as Scary Movie. It's just a silly popcorn flick that Samuel L. Jackson did for fun -- not because he had to, but because he could. When he heard there was going to be a movie called "Snakes on a Plane", he called up the director and demanded to be in it.

Saw it last night at the Drive-In. I imagine the experience would have been different in a theatre filled with drunk goofballs. I just wonder how SLJ made it through the whole thing without cracking up after every line he had to deliver.
Can you say CHEEEEESE?

To all the detractors out there...it is totally not a classical lampoon. It plays out in a completely serious manner. If not for the outrageous title and Samuel L. Jacksons "I'm tired...*edited for sweet spoiler*", people would be thinking "this movie crosses the line, that's disgusting."
Frankly, the movie was hilarious for it's premise and the craziness of some of the scenes, but a little gratuitously violent, kind of like Starship Troopers (which was intended to be the same kind of movie, but failed with most people because they didn't see the absurdity of it). Plus there's some random nudity thrown in just for those members of the audience who think the quality of a movie is based on whether or not it evokes a hormonal response.
Maelstrom, the hype about the movie can really only be attributed to the same quirkiness of human nature that becomes fascinated with Chuck Norris 15 years after Walker, Texas Ranger was cancelled, and thinks a hamster humming the theme to Disney's Robin Hood cartoon is the best thing since sliced bread. I got a big kick out of the movie, but I fully expect to see it in the $5 DVD bin at Walmart in a couple years, right next to Tremors.

However staship troopers was built on some degree of parody. If this is on par with that, then I completely understand the need to see it :)...I enjoyed starship troopers and others of that kind of style (army of darkness has some resemblance to it)...I guess the commercials and adverts showed this more of an anaconda type movie then anything useful :)

Exactly, it's not a "mocking" kind of parody....it's more like the Apple "Switch" commercial with Ellen Feiss kind of parody, where the choice to play the lowest common denomintor is the joke itself.
Starship Troopers is a great example of it. Oh, and the gratuitous nudity was necessary in this case, otherwise a future scene would have fallen short (sorry for the bad pun fellow viewers!).

The Guardian reviewer gave it 3 out of 5 stars and said it was actually pretty good. Still wouldn't get me into a movie theatre though.

I am dissapointed in the box office results. :( Then again, I'm the guy that rooted for 'Buckaroo Banzai' and 'Krull'.
I like a certain amount of cheese with my popcorn, y'knowwhatimean?

Yep, it's sad when people go to the movies to see something mindblowing. It should be fun, not a contest.
To me, if I want the full theater experience (audience feedback, super-bassy sound system, etc), then I go to the theater. If I want the perfect experience, where it is just me and the movie, almost interruption free....then I rent it and watch it at home.
I got an offical New Line Cinema approved (and produced) SNAKES ON A PLANE hat. Bow to me. :p
