Mountain Biking - Just a question

I was just wondering how many people here have a bike that is worth more than their car? I don't know, maybe it's just me but I chuckle every time I see a crappy beat up old car with a bike rack on the back holding a bike that seems to be worth 10 times the car.

My truck is a 1970 Chevy 1/2 ton 4x4, worth oh, I dunno, maybe $3,500 , maybe to a collector another grand.

My bike is an Intense Uzzi SL mac daddied out! Full retail is pushing $4,500.00.

My wife's bike is a Cannondale Raven w/Spinergy wheels and Full XT. Full retail on it was probably in the $3,500 to $4,000 range. So, if we go riding, and throw both bikes in the truck, we've essentially tripled the value of my truck (incld initial value of truck!)!

But, if we put the rack on my wife's Tahoe, we've got a long way to go to get to the value of it. We'd have to have our 4 bike rack loaded, and then 4 more in the Tahoe or on the roof!

Which bike?

All the bikes in my garage...2 are mine, the others are my fiance's, and my kids'...added up are worth more than BOTH of our cars combined. I hope that helps... ;-)

1993 MR2 Turbo = 23K market value
2001 Mazda Protege ES = 18K market value
2002 Rocky Mountain Trailhead = just paid 1K for it
1997 Junky Commute MTB = .1K value

My Jeep is worth like 10 grand... more than twice what my bikes are collectively worth.

:) I have a 88 Ford escort, Most x-mart bikes are more expensive.I think it is jealous of my bikes being inside a warm house.When it has to sit outside in all the snow and crap.

What car?

I bought my 1989 GMC Jimmy for $1250 (got a very good deal, worth much more). I have a Giant Rainier I bought for $750 but I've almost put that much money in upgrades for it, so they're very close in monetary value. On the other hand, in value to me, the truck is way behind.

To a car dealership, my Ford is worth more than my bikes combined. But like Middi-Zon, my Lemond and Schwinn are worth much more to me.
