Anyone try the Wenzel bike tent? Seems pretty cool to have a tent you don't even need to have panniers for! Any thoughts?

i will be praying for dry weather, as it claims to be water resistant, not water proof. oh well. $25. you get what you pay for.

Hose that MF'er down with water proofing spray, available at your nearest sporting goods store for 5 bucks a can.

Actually, I just picked one up at a garage sale on Saturday for 10 dollars. Seems better put-together than most of the x-mart products, at least.

Ive got one Ive used on ragbrai and for a light overnighter last year. no complaints. its a small tent and it does have to be staked but it's a good value. 3 stormy nights, 0 leaks. Ive got a slightly larger REI that I usually use as theres no shortage of room in my bob trailer, but for light trips I'd use that one.

Well I'm thinking of doing Benelux in the spring and they tell me there are not too many trees for my hammock, especially near the North Sea, so I would consider something like this. The trouble is I don't seem to find this exact tent for sale on the internet.

i just got back after 2 nights of rain with the wenzel ridgeliner. a little leaking at the seams, but for the most part it did the job, and i'm sure hitting the lower seams with seam sealant would have taken care of that... for $25, though, it performed much better than i expected.

I would be worried about my legs rubbing the tent if it were hung on the top tube.

yeah, it should go on the rack or panniers... i imagine on the top tube it would be swinging like a cow's udders.

I don't know anything about cow's udders, but I do know that a string connecting the tent bag to the down tube will stop it swinging. And the one in the store here doesn't rub up against the legs at all.
Of course, being a Hennessy Hammock man, I'll probably never need one.
