Well...I think its down to 2 choices...here's what my LBS worked out for pricing...

'03 Trek 110 carbon frame with full Ultegra and Ksyriums: $3300

or...

'03 TCR Composite with Full Ultegra: $2400 (stock Giant package)
and little more with the ksyriums...but, he's still waiting to hear back on the availability of the composite frame...

Any thoughts? I have ridden an '01 5700 (110frame/ultregra) and thought it was amazing. climbed like an angel. absolutely loved it...lifetime warranty...yummy :)

I've ridden a TCR1 aluminum...never the carbon but have only heard great things about it. I wonder if it would climb as well or better than the Trek 110?

Although, I'm not that hardcore into racing, I still love to ride hard...and only recently graduated from college after racing with the team. So I figure it'll be money well spent :) Let me know what you think...

see if you can feel comfortable with the fit on the 3 sizes of TCR. I see a lot of them for sale because of fit...not because of quality.

these are two totally different bikes with a wide difference in price.

that being said, i'd like to have either.

TCR if it fits.

Thanks for the replies...I'm about 6'1 and the TCR large fits great...as does a 60cm Trek...

Just haven't ridden a TCR composite and the shop is still unsure if they can get ahold of them...Guess the 110 frame Trek is kind of pricey, but damn, it was such a sweet ride :D

That is nearly $900 cheaper for the Giant! Even if the Trek were a little better than the Giant, it still would not be worth $900 more.
I like the look of the bare carbon Giant- if it's carbon, show it and don't try to hide any possible manufacturing blemish or defect in the carbon weave.

I say get the Giant. If your shop doesn't already have one, it might take a while as the carbon frames have been on backorder.

I bought a Giant TCR1 in January and am still smiling. It is so light and fast. I changed the Shimano r540 wheels for a pair of ksyriums SL's. I own a pair of the Shimano r535's and apart from being heavy, they make a lot of noise when riding over bumpy roads.
The Giant is an incredibly smooth ride and totally silent, no sounds coming from the frame, like the 2002 Alu version of the TCR. I can't speak for the Trek, but you will not regret the TCR if you do buy it. I haven't heard a single bad thing about them.
I have the medium size and am 5'8.

CHEERS.

I have a carbon Trek and love it. I would spend some time on both bikes and pick the one that suits you better. I bet after you add the Mavics you would be more in the upper 2000's.
