Ladies, why do you want us guys to go shopping with you when you know it makes us miserable and we would much rather be recovering from our morning ride by napping in the La-Z-Boy? What joy do you get from us standing around being bored out of our minds and wishing we were anywhere else in the world but the petites section of the department store?

Ladies! Please explain to me why every time I leave the fortifications of my inner sanctum, you all start pawing at my sweet bod? I mean I can't even buy nice clothes anymore because every woman I pass, young, old, big, small, square, round wants to tear them off? Then I'm walking around half-naked, bearing my rippling, glistening muscles which only drives them even wilder! I can't stand it! Ladies, please stop trying to sex me up everywhere I go!

You're obviously using AXE men's cologne. According to the ads they render women defenseless.

What makes you think it is a stereotype? Come to the mall with me some weekend and I'll show you lots of bored guys standing around waiting for their wives and/or daughters.

I like going shopping with my gf. She lets me pick out all the tight revealing outfits.
It's a give or take kinda thing too because I drag her with me to the bike shop, home depot, or when we're shopping for electronics.

I wouldn't think of dragging my beloved wife along to the bike shop. I know she would be miserable since she has no interest in it. She WILL go with me to Home Depot or Lowe's since she can entertain herself looking for home improvement ideas.

be thankful she's shopping in the petites section, dude.
(not sure that ALL ladies want their fellas to shop with them. I certainly don't. SO, you best get the answer from your particular shopping lady...)
I think what Shadiyah means (and forgive me if i'm waaay off base) is that it's kind of annoying to hear such a broad generalization about women in general; ie "why do you want us guys to go shopping with you when you know it makes us miserable?" I totally see your point, Olebiker, but mayhaps it would have been better to say "man, i hate it when my wife..." etc. But then again, what the hell do I know? I'm not exactly the most P.C. person on the planet.

I've had this as well....I do not, nor ever will understand why a woman who has around 50-60 pairs of shoes needs more.
My god, I have:
1 pair of flip-flops
1 pair of casual shoes
1 pair of "why the hell do you have these busted up things" shoes
1 pair of bike shoes
1 pair of dress shoes
That's it.....4 pairs, and flip flops.
I just don't understand how anyone could need that many types of shoes. And to me red is red....crimson is red, apple is red, cherry is red.....I'm sorry, but I see colors in windows default, 256 colors...maybe the male eye is deficient in discerning 16,000 shades of red, but to me they all look equally red.

Thanks Eboo, that is exactly what I meant. I'm sure there are plenty of women out there who would rather not take their S.O. with them shopping.

I'm with you, LilSprocket. Not much for having my guy accompany me. A couple of years ago, my bf at the time WANTED to go clothes shopping with me. as much as I adored him and liked spending time with him, it was the most awkward activity we ever did together!

I guess I'll step up and be the different one.
My warehouse work clothes consist of Dickie work pants and a button up shirt that is work issue/requirement. My after work clothes are usually shorts and a tank top for summer, jeans and a t-shirt for winter. I have a few dresses for special occaisions and a couple of business suits for business transactions. Then there's the cycling clothes. No time or desire to shop for clothes. I'd rather be outside playing.
As for taking a guy with me if I do need to shop, I'd rather not because I don't like holding anyone up. Not all of us women are like what you descibe.

Good job teasing everyone who gets snowed on.
I will go shopping with your wife!

I think the only places I would drag a guy to shop would be the lingere store and the motorcycle shop. All leather pants make your ass look huge, but I want to minimize the damage hehe.

Not forced to go, but I did get a numb butt from sitting in the store for so long.
Of course she got upset when I asked her if she wanted to go auto parts shopping with me the next day :p

Im just guessing they take guys with them so the guy can give an opinion whether or not what they're buying looks good? But then again when they ask you do all 35 of these outfits look good thats like death.

I actually don't mind shopping because we alternate stores between things I want to see and the things she wants to see. So it is not that bad.

Yes, I DO hold the bags, but only so she can get done more quickly and I can go home and catch up on the ironing.
Yeah, I'm whipped, but you know what? I've been married to this lady for more than 35 years and I adore her. The shopping thing is one of the few things that she does that drives me crazy. She can't really explain why she wants me to go.

I totally see your point, Olebiker, but mayhaps it would have been better to say "man, i hate it when my wife..." etc.
I didn't post it to vent. I really want to know why so many women want us husbands to go shopping with them. I don't understand it and my bride can't explain what she gets out of it. I was really hoping that some of you ladies could give me and my fellow mall bench-sitters a little insight. All I know is that, when I do go with her to the mall, it puts her in a good mood and I earn some husband points.
I think that the reaction my question elicited is pretty indicatave of the difference in the way men and women, generally speaking, communicate. If I heard a guy say, "Man, I hate it when my wife..." I would not understand him to be asking me a question. I would assume that, if he wanted my opinion on the matter, he would say, "Why do you suppose she does that when she knows..." Subtlety evades my primitive perceptions.

I can't answer your question, because like most of the women that posted here, I don't really care to take the bf shopping with me. Sometimes we'll go shopping together if we both want to buy stuff, but if I just want to go out and buy stuff, I go alone. It's kind of fun to bring home suprises anyway. An

I go shopping with my wife almost every time she goes. I wouldn't say she makes me but I do catch it if I don't go. But it gives me some advantage since I also have to help pick out her outfits every morning. Yes, I'm whipped. But after ten years I'm still absolutely, positively head over heels for her. I'm not losing this one.
The shoe thing however I don't get. Two pairs of shoes can be exactly the same except for some tiny bit of almost invisible stitching or some similar difference. She has to have both and doesn't understand why I can't see that they are completely different, nothing alike.

Yes, but I'm usually very groggy. It's extremely exhausting to satisfy so many women. Especially when I have five or six all trying to get my sweet love at the same time.
