i was wondering how the steering works on a tall bike if you attatch the handelbars to the forks or if u can make the tubes work and if there is any one on the forum from winnipeg with a tall bike i heard there were a few tall bikes around.

on my bike.. (remember i built it with out ever seeing one in person) i cut the forks off at the fork crocth and took off the bottom bikes headset, and welded a tube directly from the top bikes fork crotch to the bottom bikes top of the bottom fork.. now this may not be the best way to do it.. but it's how i got mine to work.. and it steers and handles just fine.. just have to make sure ya get that weld pretty spot on!

it is not necessary to cut anything off, but there are bits you don't need, like the top bike's forks. i would suggest cutting each fork off, not undoing the whole head stem and taking them out. that way, you have the base of the forks to weld your steer tube to.

if you want a standard tall bike that handles well, keep both head stems, line them up and put your steer column from between the top bike's forks to the top centre of the handlebar clamp on the bottom bike.

also, don't leave the weight on the steering column. weld a post just behind it to take the weight of the rider. the blue bike in the picture has a white steer column between the top bike's forks (the forks do nothing) and the red tube is to take the weight. the other pic (the really tall one) has the top forks sawn off but is otherwise the same.

Yes you can just weld the fork to the handlebars. But make sure your head tubes are perfectly aligned.
