So, has anybody done it? I'm in the beginning stages of planning a cross-country trip from NE Ohio to NE Arizona in two years time. I've always wanted to do something like this since I saw American Flyers, and I know the risks and elements I might have to deal with. I still have to do a century to see if I'm even up to that yet, but I'm very confident that I can cover in upwards of 200 miles a day. What Kind of bike should I ride? When I graduate, I'll be getting a brand new Cannondale, so I'd like to make it useful.
Thanks for the info in advance.
I assume you don't plan to ride double centuries on average. That would be quite a feat.
Assuming you can cover 200 miles pewr day, why would you want to ? Slow down see the country, you may never get another chance. Check out http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/ for journals and infomation from others who have toured.
