View Full Version : Completed Super Stretch Cruiser
Hello Everyone,
Here is my completed Full Suspension Super Stretch Cruiser. Completely designed and hand fabricated by myself. Made from 4130 Cro-Moly Steel, which I bent, cut, welded, ground, filled, and painted. From concept to completion it has taken over a year to finish. Of course I had to fully load it, mostly with my spare downhill components. Marzocchi 888 rc, Rohloff, Fox DHX 9.5 x 3 shock, Hope Bulb, Hope 6ti's, 205 rotors, Atomlab Pimps, Maxxis Hookworms, Chris King headset, and Primo Hollowbites. It is so over the top and excessive and over 10ft.

Impressive!
I like how the front suspension looks like it would absorb the impact of front-end collisions.

X-tremely Outrageous. Love it. We've had tall bikes, now everyone will want long bikes.

GIMME YOUR BRAKES!!!!!!!
and the rest of the DH components :p.
Faaaaabulous! You've also got a good low center of gravity.
Regards to the longsuffering Mme. (or M.) X, if there be one.

Wont that angle put alot of strain on the forks and blow the seals, or ovalize the stanctions?

Dank chopper. What's the rear travel on that baby?
Thanks for the great responses,
With the stretched out riding position the bike takes a little practice to get use to the feel. I'm 6'4", so it's built for a tall rider. As with any stretched bike the turning radius is rather large, and with the 26in tires turning at a slow speed takes some strength. For the suspension, the DHX eats up anything. You don't even feel speed bumps, deep potholes, etc. and the 888's can swallow a street curb with ease. As far as strain on the fork, the majority of the stress is on the headtube of the frame. It probably isn't the best idea to have such an extreme angle, but the headtube is well enforced. Even though it has DH components, which are meant to take extreme abuse, I wouldn't recommend on doing any really rough riding. It's a cruiser, which is meant to be flying down long stretches of beaches (it "flies" when the Rohloff hub is in 14th gear). For the comment about the kickstand, it's a Tranz-x chainstay mount kickstand. It clamps down to the chainstay by tightening two bolts, and can be removed (or attached) in seconds. The bike is for sale at the right price.

Wouldn't it be more comfortable with longer / higher handlebars? It seems like a long reach in an uncomfortable position with the bars you've got on it in the photos.
