Forum Suggestions & User Assistance - new forum?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. howdy!

me again! lol!

sooooo the socal bunch is really talkative... and also really active riders! always planning new rides and talking about rides we've completed... our threads get lost in the road forum (ok... really..... we're taking OVER the road forum!)

heck... we're WAY more active than the new "long distance" forum!

so what are the chances of getting us our own little section of the forums where we can stop clutterin up road cycling??????????????

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with caligurl. If I didn't live in SoCal, I'd find these many threads and dozens and dozens of posts really annoying. And when it's winter and we're still organizing rides and acting smug about how great the weather still is, we might provoke violence. . . .

I agree....
....yet take the Cool Breeze ride report thread for instance. Almost 5,000 views in 3 days! Someone's reading our thread outside of SoCal........but not posting.

Yeah, we provide good entertaining chitchat as a bonus! It would be awesome if we could get a socal subforum.

I would point out that putting us in a subforum wouldn't take any extra resources. The posts already exist. They just wouldn't push so many other threads off the first page of the roadie forum so quickly if they were in a separate subforum.

LOOK!

Hey you!

I just started a thread in the Mods corner how to best split up regional forums.

I have a few forums already created, but I'm going to make sure everything look right before I turn them on publicly.

Look for something new tonite.

Can you guys see the new forum?

All the states (I think...) are up. Now to figure out the international forums...

Thanks Joe. Now the whole world doesn't have to wade through our ride planning. We can just point them to pics and ride reports afterward.

Joe or a mod... a suggestion...

Perhaps we could have a stickied thread in the roadie forum for a few days so that people are aware of the new forums. Kind of like lotek's stickied, locked thread informing people about the saddle trade thread that was in the roadie forum for a while.

I'll be putting up a global announcement, as well as starting a thread in that forum.

Love the new sig :)

Joe, thanks again for the reorganization. I think this will be a good thing for all involved. Earlier tonight, for kicks, I sorted the threads in the roadie forum by the number of replies. A huge number of those threads were SoCal group ride threads, mostly from the last 10 months. The now very active SoCal roadie community can have our planning in one place, without worrying about having too many threads knocking other people's threads off the first page of the crowded roadie forum.

I just hope others drop by once in a while to enjoy our ride reports and pics. Oh, and I think it's a nice touch moving the older significant threads over there. It's nice for us to have all that gathered in one place as a resource for planning future rides.

I'm excited to see watch regional forums grow. When I first launched the forums back in 1999 we had regional forums, but I took them off due to lack of use. I think we finaly have enough active forum members to make it work. :)
