This might not be as funny if there actually was still a bike lane here. It was taken out when the streetscape was redone with the American Tobacco complex across the street a couple of years ago. This is also about 1/10 of a mile from the trailhead to the American Tobacco Trail. I pass it nearly everyday and finally decided to snap a picture yesterday.

if its their private property, i bet they can make a bike lane a tobacco drying shed if they wanted to.

sad commentary by a corporation as to the value of bicycles as transportation.

if it is a public roadway, that is sooo foul and more than likely illegal, signing a road like that.....report them if it is a public road.

that would be akin to a business signing a fire lane for standing and deliveries only........

There is a recent thread in the Introductions bracket where a guy is looking for unusual pictures.

Why the hell would a company bent on killing people legally care about bikes?!?

I should clarify that "American Tobacco" (founded in 1890 by the Duke family - i.e. Duke University) is not the company that owns the complex. They are the company that owned the warehouses that have now been purchased and renovated into retail, restaurant and office space (residential is coming soon). Capitol Broadcasting owns the complex and the Durham Bulls which play across the street. American Tobacco left Durham in the 1980's.

LOL! When we have a holiday party or something at home we offer not "VIP parking" (car parking in our 'hood is a PITA) but "valet bike parking". One friend actually took us up on the offer and we parked his bike in a room not used for the party. :)
