Bike? Was there a bike in those pictures? :p Seriously, welcome Eddie. I'm harmless as is the rest of the crew. We look forward to having you on a ride in near future. :)

I will be down in Ladera Ranch this weekend. Need a draft?

You riding in the OC this weekend? I'm a little farther north. But there's this ride up Angeles Crest that I'm planning soon that you might enjoy. It's climbing up almost 9K ft (piece o' cake for you Vegas folks who climb all over that Fire Valley area). Perhaps you'll join?? :)

Well, this weekend I'm not doing the long climbing rides as I have obligations both days. So, I'm riding both Sat/Sun, starting in the dark. This is so I can be done before noon both days. As for the AC ride that I hope you'll join on, we are mulling over Oct/Nov dates. I'm going to get that thread up and going and I hope you, Cyn, Asia, Travis, Laura, Karen and the rest of the Vegas beautiful ones will join. :D

Too bad your busy...would have been nice to ride with a SoCal hottie for a day or two! I will be riding Saturday and probably Sunday morning....alone....unless enticed by someone else to join in!

I am interested in the Angeles Crest ride...I'll watch for the post.

Hello everyone,
I hope my first post doesn't sound like I have just come from an AA meeting, but my Name is Vanessa, I live in London and my Job brings me to LA very frequently, I want to bring my bike and try riding in the area, I just need to remember to stay on the Right side of the road LOL.
Does anyone have any suggestions where I might store my Bike? I don't want to haul it back and forth across the Atlantic.
Thank You.
V

Hi Vanessa

If you don't mind Long Beach try here. Longterm bike storage is $12 per month or $96 per year...

Hey Guys!!! I'm new on bf and would like to introduce myself. I live in Van Nuys and work in Culver City. I rode throughout my adolescence and what to pick it up again. I'm purchasing a fs trail mtb for now, and within a couple of months I'm going to purchase a road bike as well.

Just wanted to put myself out there as a new rider willing to travel for a nice ride with a cool group. I'm 25, in decent shape, but obviously I'm going to take things slow at first to get back in the swing of things and avoid injury. If anyone has a group that does some trails let me know!!!

Welcome to the group, bpert. You'll have plenty of company, as a lot of folks from SFVBC hang out here, and a handfull that live in Van Nuys. Pics of you and your bike will also help with the introductions.

Hello fellow So-cal'ers... My name is Dennis. I'm located in east Hollywood(santa monica & gower) I've been lurking BF on and off for a few months now; but I'll keep this post kinda short and sweet. Sooo.... I usually spend my time riding to work/grocery shopping/other misc. errands. But i sometimes take longer treks to the Union Station downtown, or to Venice beach; sometimes even Santa Monica if I'm up for it. I've been out west since summer of last year, which was right after i graduated high school. Yup, i'm a youngin' at 19 years of age. Back home in NY, i rode a ton of BMX, and dabbled in some mountain biking on trails when i had the chance. Since moving out here, i stopped the BMXing, and picked up road biking for school/work. Love it. I actually prefer to ride on my days off aimlessly around town with no destination. Hmm, what else... I don't know too many people out here in general(none that ride, really), but would love to meet some people to do some riding with; especially some that would love to take some trips down to the beach. I actually don't mind riding alone(or i guess i'm just used to it by now?) but i doubt riding with some people could be any worse. So, i guess that about does it for my introduction. Not sure how much posting I'll actually do after this, but for what it's worth, this is me.

oh, also, i guess what i more importantly should have mentioned; i have an older Schwinn World Sport, Jamis hardtail MTB, and a still in progress Bianchi Pista '06. I haven't rode fixed all too much, but will be learning more and more once the Pista is in good enough shape for it.

Hey guys, my name is Carlos. Currently (and for the last 3 yrs) I live in Texas, but I grew up in San Diego. I'm in college right now and if everything goes as planned I'll be back in SoCal next summer. I've been a regular commuter for a couple of years and used to ride mountain bikes when I lived in San Diego and when I moved to San Antonio, TX. Now in Corpus Christi, TX there are no hills, so I've taken up road biking. I ride a cheap Ibex, which is all my college student budget could afford, but I ride the heck out of it. I also ride an old Trek that was donated to me and I turned into a fixed gear, which I use as my commuter rig. I've been reading the threads in the SoCal forum and think you guys are much cooler than the TX crowd (no surprise). I come home to visit for 2 weeks in the summer and in the winter, but don't get to bring my bikes with me (I'm a runner for those 2 weeks). Well, thats it, just saying howdy.

yeah, the big question is where in LA. One possibility is to rent a part of someone's box at the ADT event center--- it's near LAX and it's easy to get to most of the time.

I didn't realize the regional sections had intro threads until now so I'll re-introduce myself (original thread is at http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?postid=5358442).

I've biked off and on for a while but this school year, I brought my mountain bike to college and use it for commuting from the train station in addition to biking around campus.

I tend to be slightly paranoid so I'm still not sure if I should post photos yet. I found a stock shot of a slightly different version of my bike at Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/Adults%2592-Honda-Racing-Mountain-24%2522/dp/B000MDD92Q/ref=sr_1_2/102-6077871-1321723?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1191258852&sr=8-2).

My name is Sam, and I'm a bikeaholic.

And not just the non-motorized kind, although I do seem to be in an exclusively pedal bike phase at the moment. I've been an avid bicyclist since I took the training wheels off my first bike and promptly ran it down a hill, over a jump, and into a bush. I've worked in the bicyle industry in the past, as well as as a bike courier in London. These days, I ride a computer for work, so I at least ride TO work 4 or 5 days per week, which amounts to just under 30 miles a day (across LA in ugly traffic and on godawful surfaces). I'm recently divorced, and still in the process of taking off some of my marriage weight (I'm kind of a foodie, so it is a slow process, even with 200 mile weeks), so I'm still a Clydesdale and y'all are gonna have to wait to see what I look like until I show up at a ride (mid October southbay ride), since none of the pictures I have look anything like me right now. I'm not terribly fast up the hills, but my stamina has gotten really good and I can grind along all day pretty comfortably, finally.

The one thing I kept from my marriage was my Ventana El Conquistador de Montanas (or however the heck you spell it) full suspension tandem, and I'd love to find a stoker (of either sex and any experience level) to go beat up on it offroad. I called in every industry favour I had to spec it out on the cheap, but my wife and I never got the use out of it that it deserves. I'm kind of a mountain biker at heart, but fairly new to the LA area and don't know any of the trails or any mountain bikers to show them to me, so I've been riding the road exclusively for the last 6 months. I miss the dirt in a big way, but have no idea if my skills hav deserted me or not. I'm going to have to find out the hard way, I guess.

Oh, i'm one of those nutcases who doesn't have a car here in LA, although I will, on occasion, rip across town on a motorcycle if I really have to arrive in a hurry or looking nice. If I can't pedal to the start of a ride, the bicycle gets bungied to the back of a motorcycle or tossed in my russian sidecar rig, so you can get used to the sight of me hurriedly stripping off the moto-gear after arriving late at the start of a ride. I'm really not a poseur, I swear. I just have no other way to transport a bicycle - though the sidecar rig really is pretty cool, if I do say so myself. Rides are freely given - just ask.

tito's tacos is one of the worst taco shops i've ever been to. it amazes me how popular it is.

the best burrito i've ever had is from the taco truck on lincoln and rose. best jalapeno carrots and onions ever.

hi, i'm Bill
Been pedaling in earnest since Feb. 07 on a Trek 3700 MTB (thanks to my wife) - got maybe 1900 miles under my belt going solo between Calabasas to the East (commuted to Tech Center until mid-June) and Oak Park to the North, with lots of 'round the lake and up&down Lindero Canyon. not much trail action yet (though there are a ton of great ones nearby), just working the hill sprints. I'd say the only thing fly i sport are the V-Ti's but i have a ball and sure don't miss the 30 lbs. I've shed in the saddle.
I'll come back with some shots soon - gotta dash off to SF for an interview tomorrow

Hope to see you out there sometime- great to find the forum

I'm in the Pasadena area, and I usualy ride 5 or 6 days a week.

I've got a lot of friends who ride, all of whom are much faster than me. That's a good thing in my book.

I also have a GREAT coach who goes by the name Chepe. In the last 3 months, he has transformed my riding completely. I'm looking forward to racing Road next season, and doing a little bit of 'Cross this season.

This is me on the final ascent to the lifts at Baldy this Labor Day. Baldy on a 105+degree day is as good as it gets, especialy when you spent 7 hours on your bike the day before.

This is my ride: I started with a NOS 1994 frame and built it up with the Campy Athena gruppo the last year it was available (1999). Had to change the left crankarm with a Daytona one when the original cracked (no, it didn't crack because of my extra-ordinarily high amount of generated power). The latest additions are (1) the NiteRider Select headlight from PBS; (2) the Thompson seatpost; and (3) the San Marco Regal Titanio saddle.
I am very, very proud of it.

Another new Chris here (seems like there were a few already on the last couple of pages) and I'm just getting back into the swing of things after spending the last ten years obsessing about automobiles. Unfortunately I spent more time sitting in traffic than actually enjoying that hobby...

I currently live next to the Redondo Pier and work in Marina Del Rey so I'm pretty sure you guys can guess where this is going- it's just sad that it took me 6 months to put it together!
