Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Hey Fixer,
Here's me "giving you the bird" ;)
Actually, that's me after having a couple of margaritas in Pacific Grove on a windy afternoon (the bird isn't mine) - does that still count as a Margarita shot?
One more time (as I already posted it in here somewhere):
I am M.E.
I look like (well look at the pic)
I ride a Trek 1500 Women's Specific
I ride wherever and whenever possible, but only if I'm fed at some point after 70 miles
:D

M.E.....is that your bird?
No, it belongs to a vendor on the wharf. I made the vendor a little nervous I think, because I smelled like tequila and squealed when I saw the bird (I wanted to pet it).
;)

Only if Cytomax will mix well with it! ;) Come to think of it, I sometimes feel a little tipsy drinking Cytomax. I wonder why? Sugar?

I'm going to hold you to that, Voltman! :D That stuff is expensive. And, yes, I've tried the sugar free too. They just came out with a Pre-Ride formula, but I use it while riding as well. Can't tell the difference...

That sounds delicious as I love chocolate. I've also heard of people putting Ovaltine in their sports bottles, but I'd need milk (or soymilk) for that. I do think it would make a great recovery drink.

I used to love Gatorade, Cali, but I was diagnosed with asthma last year after I couldn't breath and had to quit the Tour de OC (humiliating getting into the SAG wagon, wheezing and crying like a four-year-old - which didn't help the wheezing :o ). Gatorade has something in it that can trigger asthma if taken in large doses (which is what I was doing on centuries, refilling my water bottles with the lime flavored Gatorade most organized rides provide at their SAG stops every 25 miles). My pulmonary specialist put a stop to that! :( So, now I just drink Cytomax. They don't use whatever dye that is in Gatorade so it doesn't trigger asthma.

For me, Go Grape cytomax for rides and Vanilla Endurox as recovery drink. I sometimes can't stand the Endurox. :p
I've tried mandarin flavored Heed once, but I find the taste too weak.

I mix the Cytomax w/my Accelerade to make the Accelerate tolerable...
These are the products I use on the bike, all from Hammer Nutrition:
HEED: Rides under two hours, electrolyte replacement. Two flavors, neither overpowers you.
Raspberry Gel: Yumm.
Sustained Energy: Carbs plus protein. Mix with gel for flavoring. Use on lonig rides.
Endurolytes: electrolyte caps. Only use them on Centuries.
I tried Cyto, Accelerade et al and found none to my liking. The Hammer products all sit well with me and seem to do the job.

I have as a matter of fact and I love eGel. I think it is far better than Hammer, Gu and Honeystingers (for me). It has a better composition of complex carbs and less sugar. I don't like the EFuel, but mostly because it's messy, harder to carry and the flavors do nothing for me (Cytomax isn't that hot either in terms of flavors, but I favor it for some reason). I order the Egels on line and get a price break. And for all you Socal riders, never pay for extra Fedex services. The package will get to you in one to two days anyway.

Interesting...I found their liquid much easier to use and mix in the field than powder...as for flavors...most everyones are pretty bad...but the eFule red is the worst warm...have to drink that one early, the others are ok...

XC racers are pretty serious from what I've seen. I raced SuperD last season and that was a blast, too bad they did away with it this year or I'd be doing that rather in XC. That atmosphere was alot better, more relaxed and fun. I even built up a nice fully, 5" front and rear for racing superD and they canceled it. I tried racing XC with my SuperD bike...no can do, PITA climbing with a 34lb bike with a all mt geometry. So I built up a 22lb hard tail budget racer that climbs ALOT better. It's getting converted to single speed this week for training purposes.

Hi, I'm Ron. That's me and my IF Club Racer in England a few years ago. I live in Topanga and mostly stick to the westside. You'll usually catch me riding up and down PCH. I recently went down to Palos Verdes for the first time, I'll be doing that again. I also ride around Topanga some, but I'm really just getting back into after a minor two year hiatus away from the bike. Once I catch my hill legs again, you'll see me on these group mountain rides.

it was way back in '98. i was more of a honda guy at that point, and i never would have guessed that ford would be the sole engine supplier eight years later.
maybe i'll change her name to panoz-cosworth.
