Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I hail from Everett, WA which is 30 miles north of Seattle. There is a trail that travels the whole distance between Everett and Seattle that I ride quite often. Actually, pretty much every road around here is a trail, they almost all have bike lanes which is quite a treat. Whidbey Island is near and the beautiful Cascades are just as close but in the opposite direction. Ideal for cycling.

Welcome cijones. I ride part of the Interurban trail on my commute to Everett once or twice a week (other days I drive).

Hey everyone, I'm Justin, from Tacoma, WA. I'm in the military (happy to be stationed at home for once), and I've recently started commuting from Hilltop to Fort Lewis. It's 14 plus miles one way, but I'm enjoying it so far. I figured this is a good spot in the forum to talk about PNW-related issues (like rain). Anyway, that's me. Glad we have a PNW spot on the board!
Lake Stevens. I ride the Centennial Trail nearly every day. Work from home, so usually when it warms up or I can avoid roving rain clouds via Wunderground. :)
I'm pretty easy to spot. I ride a black highracer (similar to this: http://www.bacchettabikes.com/bikes/performance-bikes/carbon-aero-2.0 ) and usually wear a TT helmet with a visor to stop my eyes from watering uncontrollably (and bug protection... I swear small rocks have sprouted wings this year and are posing as bugs).

Hi, bike people. I'm in Portland and have recently rediscovered the joy of cycling after about a 20 year hiatus. And I didn't live in the PNW back then, so now it's even more joyful! Glad to have discovered this forum, much good stuff here.

Mtn Mike said there's no biking in Spokane but that post was 5 years ago. Biking has grown here every year through the efforts of SpokaneBikes.org to promote Bike to Work Week (disclosure--I founded the group), the annual family-friendly SpokeFest ride (spokefest.org), the establishment of a beginner-friendly women's group Belles and Baskets (facebook.com/BellesandBaskets), and more. I see bikes every day of the week, we've added lanes, sharrows and separated trails, and the League of American Bicyclists designated us as a bike-friendly community at the bronze level in 2010.
Come ride in Spokane!

Hey threemonkeys, good to see another Kirklander (Kirklandite? Kirklandian?) here. I started last year and got hooked pretty hard myself. I live in the Juanita neighborhood and get out for at least one ride every weekend and sometimes I bike commute to work. I did about 2200 miles last year and I'm on pace for 3000 or so this year. Maybe I'll see you out there.

I'd better check in here as well. Skimming through the 37 pages of this thread there have been a few hailing from the Palouse but seems like they haven't stuck around (please correct me if I'm wrong).
Living in Pullman, used to go to school in Moscow. Born and raised in Southeastern Idaho ... Rigby to be precise. Say hi if you're in the area.
I - D - A - H - O .... ok, I can't finish it. Love the school, the chant just drove me nuts. :)

Hey, my names Randy from Union Gap, WA, right next to Yakima. I currently ride a late 90's Trek 930 Singletrack with slicks and a milk crate on the back that my dog rides in. I just (re)started cycling 6 months ago when I developed tinnitus as a way to distract myself from the ringing in my ears and it's done the trick. It's the only thing that's helped me overcome the condition...and I've lost 40 pounds since I started as a plus.

Not a new rider, but new to the area. I moved to Everett almost a year ago. Just got back into biking, and most of my stuff is still in storage, so I've gotten a bit out of shape. I look forward to riding some real hills after being stuck in KS for 7 years.

Welcome to the PNW! Lots of good hills. Sometimes they're practically unavoidable...

I live at Plain Washington. It is pretty hard finding a great ride here. :) I leave my house, ride one mile, then I must go either left or right, both ways are great!!! When the snow leaves in the spring, the riding will get better.
Plain is a great place to ride. We stay in Leavenworth at least once a year and I always try to work in a loop through Plain.

Love your enthusiasm!:thumb:
I'm in Central Oregon. Got lots of good riding in while we had a good mild winter with lots of sun. Now with all the rain/snow/slush... sigh. Though today, the blue skies are trying really hard to peek out, so am going to try & get some groceries by bike while the riding's good.

Just joined this forum. It is certainly a wealth of information. I live and work in Bend, OR and travel often to Eugene. I like to road ride and mountain bike. Currently obsessed with mixte frames and contemplating building a fixie.
Been lurking for a while and I just started posting from Bonney Lake WA. Just got a new 2012 Randonee last week. Been ridding my old 1991 Daimondback Override and I hope to work my way up to doing some touring rides. Most rides now are around 20-40 miles and always seem to be around Sumner, Orting, Buckley & Enumclaw. a lot of my rides include a 500' plus climb and my mile & pace seem to be increasing rapidly. looking fwd to not ridding in the rain so much.

Wow, guess I've not posted in this thread yet. Born in Moses Lake when it still had an Air Force base, after dad retired grew up in Spokane. Moved to Ellensburg (Kittitas as well) for college, only left for 5 years once to live in Coulee City. Moved back to Ellensburg 10+ years ago. I live on a county road that is residential and have great riding from the top of my driveway. I commute with my bike 10 or so months a year, into my second year doing this. I ride for health and recreation. I am also the Scoutmaster for our communities Boy Scout Troops.
I work in the trucking industry and foremerly was a driver. As such I have seen almost every corner of Washington, most of Idaho, some of northern Oregon. We are truely blessed with some stellar scenery in the Pacific Northwest. From ocean beaches to mountians to deserts to dry and irrigated farm land. I wish to travel it all with my bike in the time I have remaining.

Hi all, I'm out in Florence, OR. but originally from Eugene/Springfield (Started in West Eugene, moved out to Walterville area in middle school)
When we lived in West Eugene, I rode EVERYWHERE. I recently went back to my old neighborhood and couldn't believe how far afield I was allowed to go on my bike when I was only about 7-8 years old. One of my favorite "bikeabout" routes ended up 6 miles away from my old house! My folks' philosophy was that if I could get to it and back without getting lost, I was fine. I guess it worked, as I'm still here. Then we moved out east of Springfield (Camp Creek) and there really wasn't any roads I felt comfortable riding on, and I didn't get back on a bike all through high school, college, and beyond.
I started cycling again in the summer of last year after my boss gave me an old Schwinn Tempo she found in her garage, but slacked off and only commuted during the winter. Working on building my miles and bum tolerance back up. I keep trying to get people to ride with, but my schedule is so screwy it hasn't worked yet. (I work graveyards.) And anyone I've been able to find has either been uninterested in anything more than toodling along the sidewalk at 5 mph or so far beyond where I am it's not fair to ask them to ride with me. But at least I enjoy my solo ride time.
My BFF (who got me into cycling in the first place) is going to be coming up to visit this summer, hoping to get some long rides, maybe an overnight trip in while she's here.
Hi from SE Portland! Ride my bike to work and back everyday and love to go on long rides out in the country. Always rode a mountain bike, but I'm trying to get a decent road bike so I can go real fast now, well see how it goes.
Long Beach Peninsula, SW corner of state, fab 50 mile Naselle Loop ride, two rivers, one bay.
