I don't know how much they're paying weathermen these days. but the weather for today's ride was perfect. The skys were threatening, but I only got about ten drops of rain on me all day long. Even though I was familiar with the route, I clipped a route slip to my handlebars. After the start, a guy said that he was going to rid with me because he didn't have a route slip. I noticed that he was riding a red/white/blue Trek. I asked if it was a Madone. (Sorry, I can't tell from just a glance.) He said yes. then I asked if his name was Chuck and he answered yes to that too. I had to snap a picture:

We rode together to the first rest stop.

Since I was familiar with the course, I was sheparding a group to the SART. Once we reached the SART, a girl that was riding in front lost her tail light. I stopped and picked it up for her. I pretty much rode the SART by myself till the second rest stop, across from Anaheim Stadium. As I was passing the park in Yorba Linda, I saw an adult kick ball game. I had seen something about this on the news. but I hadn't seen a game in person:

I saw two guys who had recently done a tour of Ireland. They had matching jerseys:

Just before I got to the end of the trail, I ran into Mr Beanz and Gina:

He saw the fenders on my bike, and yelled out to me. I stopped and turned around. We talked for about ten minutes. They're both really nice.

Hi Isits,
I'm glad you had such a good ride! Thanks for sharing your pictures!

Lunch was good with barbecued chicken, barbecued beef, hot dogs. baked beans, corn and salad. During lunch, I ran into a friend from the Cycling Connection named Tom. He was doing his first century:

We rode tgether most of the way back. Here's another picture of the trail going back:

I started to run out of gas with about ten miles to go. I slowed way down and dropped off the back of the group. I limped into the finish and there were a bunch of people applauding and ringing cowbells.
Here's Tom at the end of the ride.

Congrats on completing his first century:
It was a great ride. The weather cooperated. It was in the high 60's to low 70's the whole time. It was overcast, but I like overcast weather. I met a lot of nice people. The food was good.
Final pic: (through the front window of my truck as I was driving home.)

Hey Lsits, nice to finally meet you. Thought your bike was really cool too. I need to get some fenders. I noticed your bike didn't have one spec of dirt or mud on it! Wish we could have had a chance to ride with you on the trail section, but it's hard to do traveling in opposite directions!:D
We met up with Chuck right as we entered the trail so we rode with him and his new friend down to PCH. Right as we approached the Pond stop, Chuck sprinted around and dropped us. I coldn't figure out why, as he passed he shouted," I Gotta get my picture taken!". WHATTA HAM!:p ....We did have a fun lil paceline of maybe 8 or 9 on the way to PCH.
I can't complain though, we had our pics taken too! Speaking of pics, I tell Gina to smile when someone flashes a camera, but she seems to always make her imfamous Tony Montana face instead!:D
Nice report and pics, lsits. Glad to hear the weather held out for you. :)

BTW, glad the weather help up for you. It was great for us but we were only out there half as long as you. It did rain on us about 3 minutes before we got home. Figures, I had just washed my truck and was hoping it wouldn't rain. When it rained I was hoping it was only in the Upland area and not on you guys!

Thanks for the report, Isits, and the pictures. Mr. Beanz, you and Gina look like you were having a good ride even if Gina isn't wearing a permi-grin.

Gina is so purty when she smiles but has something about smiling for the camera!:p ..yeah, it was fun riding with some of the riders. They were on a century so I pulled a line of about 7 or 8 for 15 miles or so to give 'em a break. Gina kept up well on her rain bike, so I think she was happy!:D
I liked Lsits, seemed like a very nice down to earth guy!...and he likes BS!
Now Chuck is the guy with a bad attitude! I've seen him harrassing the young guys along the trail(when he didn't know I was watching:D).
Great pictures and report Jim. It sounds like you had a nice ride!

Make sure she sees this post and she'll smile for the camera (we women like to be told we're purty...even when smothered in pasty white suncreen, stinky and sweaty with bugs stuck to your face and our hair greasy...oh, sorry, I digress. And I'm not cetainly not describing Gina, by the way:p )

It's you Beanz that that taught me you can't let a young rider pass ! Thanks to you and Gina for the pull ! It was a great Century. Jim kept me on the trail for the first 20. A nice guy name Bill pulled me for about 10 and then Beanz and Jeana pulled about 20 !!!OK.. I did sprint for the pic but I made my evil "Chase down the young guy look" Great lunch and great rest stops. On the way back I met up with a couple riders from Palm Springs...They seemed to think 21 was a good Century pace...I pulled about 2 out of the next 20. I rode alone for a while as I minimized the rest stops but two guys from PS caught me just before Gypsum Canyon. Somehow we made all the right turns and got to the final rest stop and jumped off again with a group of about 8 that new the way back. Again 21-22 was the preferred speed but getting behind a big guy made it pedal like 18. when we finished the 106 mile advertised century at 111 miles the club guys called out "4th, 5th, 6th as we pulled in...I choose to believe it !11 Anyway it was a excellant Century. Many thanks to the Riverside club !!! Eating at the mid point turned out great and my new power bar is M&M's ! BTW...I never felt a drop not counting Beanz going through puddles !!!

I just finished reading about yesterday's ride up GMR & GRR. That's a tough ride on a good day. My hat's off to all you guys. I borrowed my wife's Casio EXILIM camera. It was pretty easy to use and has better resolution than my old HP-215.

Bwahahaha! Funny, the pic of me and Gina, I look like I'm chewing tobaccy or sumthin'!
Do you know the photographer's name or site? Any where in your big giant goody bag?
BTW, we encountered several riders on the way back, but not very many. Maybe a large number cancelled cause of the rain?
Mr Beanz,
The photographer was Photo Crazy.
There was an option on the ride to just ride down to the beach. 53 miles one way. Of course you had to arrange your own transportation back.
