the palm springs metric.... also on a sunday (AND the day after smog to surf! ugh!)
info here (http://www.kleinclarksports.com/tramroadchallenge.html)
the day before they have a time trial up the tram road!!!!! so you can sign up for both! MY lbs guy was fastest last year! YAY, SCOTT!!!!!!!
if i wasn't doing StoS i'd do the time trial...just cuz! lol! but i'd probably come in last! but i'd get my prize! tee hee!
i'll be hurtin on the metric even... cuz i don't like to ride that far the day after a long ride! oh well!
Can it be? :o A Sunday ride? Oh crud... Extort and OC's big ride is on Oct 14. Umm, if I decide I haven't had enough riding after their ride, is there day-of registration? Hmm... let's see...
The website suggests the metric is on Saturday, and the half metric is on Sunday. I'm not driving all the way out there for a half metric. The metric on Sunday appears to only be for people who do the time trial on Saturday. Oh well, whatever... I'd probably be beat after Extort and OC's ride anyway.

if you look at the brochure (click on brochure link) you see that the road rides are indeed on sunday..
and no... anyone can sign up for just the time trial... or just the road rides or both...
ya... their site is confusing... their brochure is better....

i emailed them....
Okay, the registration form confirms what caligurl said. The above link is just kind of confusing since it lists things in columns, with apparently a Saturday column and a Sunday column.
Sounds kind of fun, but probably too much for the day after Extort and OC's ride. Unless of course someone offers me a tow rope.

i'll be doing it the day after a century too!
Would you be willing to wait around for me and make sure I don't die? Or better yet just toss me that tow rope?
As I posted in the other thread, if Vicki and I don't do the half metric in Ventura the week before, we may drive down after Hilly's soccer game on Sat and ride on Sunday. We won't know for several weeks though. Could be fun....

"n00b" here (and official first post)...
I might be doing the tram road climb on the 14th... My friend is definitely doing it though so i'll be out there for that and for another friend's softball tournament.

I may do this one... don't really want to do the ride Saturday on the SART so this might be a good alternative.... so... Jason... no worries, if you end up stopped somewhere I'll eventually catch up to ya ;) I haven't been riding much because of the new job but I'm pretty sure I can pull off a metric :p
t~
ps. putting in my request to hubby right now!!!

new job... very little riding :( I was also a little burned out after CB but am now working on getting some riding integrated in/the schedule ;)
Heck, I haven't even had time to harrass Caligurl w/PM's!
Thanks for noticing that I was missing though ;) Are you doing this ride Fixer?
t~
Tracy, my sister Tracy asked about you yesterday. Don't worry about a bit of time off the bike. You'll get back to form in no time.
I'm still not sure about this ride. It's a Sunday ride (yay), but it's also the day after Baldy Challenge. I think I may need you or caligurl to carry a tow rope if I were riding.

Well tell Tracy HELLO for me! :D I'm not going to have much ride time at all for the next 3-4 months though... so I'll just treat this ride as a long training ride and probably do it at a pokey pace. I'm fine w/that and am just happy that I'm getting the ride in at all at this point! :p
You did those two rides back to back that weekend we did the SART trail.... you can do this one... come on, sign up!!!! :p
t~
ps. I already signed up... the golf course is closed for 6 weeks after next weekend so DH will just be acting like a wienie if he won't hang w/the wild things! ;)

Well, I'll look forward to saying Hello at the start anyway! :D What a great getaway... a weekend away and a ride!!!

Tracy, you had (and hopefully have) pretty decent form. A steady 90 RPM cadence without needing a cyclocomputer to give you feedback and steady power output hour after hour.
After the Pie ride in January, I could barely walk. I don't see how Baldy Challenge will be any different. We'll see how Grand Tour Lite goes first. It's not as hilly as Baldy Challenge, but it's longer. If I'm not in terrible pain the day afterward, then maybe I'll sign up for Palm Springs.

Awwww.... come on Jason, you can do it! Just think of it as a recovery ride ;)
Would you be willing to wait around for me and make sure I don't die? Or better yet just toss me that tow rope?
I asked caligurl this. She never responded. So are you willing to make sure I don't die? Someone will have to promise to make sure I don't die if I'm going to commit to doing this ride before having finished Grand Tour Lite.

I'm up for anything but thai... too whimpy for the spices  other than that... I'll just follow you!!! This is good... I'm getting re-motivated... now to figure out some time to actually ride; hmmmmm... quite the concept

No need... Melissa and Matt are already volunteering to watch over me and make sure I'm okay. Which also means you will be watching over me, too, if you're riding with them.

I'm sure I'll be behind them somewhere ;) I'm just gonna poke along on my own for this ride... just wanna enjoy it w/no pressure :) ... besides, Melissa already said they'd wait for me to join everyone for the post ride meal!!!

i'm gonna decide closer... and pay that day (it's already past the early sign up... so it's $5.00 more whether i pay now or that day!)
i mean... i'm planning on doing it.... but ultimately i'll see how i feel closer to it (AND if we decide to do 5 counties instead of smog to surf... we probably won't do it cuz we'll get home way to late to get up and do this ride... am i making any sense?)
