Greenwood to IUPUI? That's a pretty healthy commute. Good for you. I work over on the west side near Rockville Rd and 465. It would be a tough and circuitous ride for me.

I just got my first road bike (a Basso from a friend, though I'm not sure which model it is....maybe you guys could help?) and live in Huntington Woods, MI, 10 minutes outside of Detroit. I started commuting to work on Monday, only to find that the ride is pretty bumpy, and cars in Troy (particularly SUVs) tend to honk at bikers on the road. But it feels better than driving! I'm a total newbie, but glad to have found this forum. 'Hoping to learn the basics of bike repair and some good routes in the area!

welcome. A good group in your area to get in group ride with is the Wolverine Sports Club. They have a number of group rides not far from you.

Here is their web site: http://wolverinesportsclub.com/

Monroe, MI. Just off of Lake Erie, where the winds are predictable, and predictably suck. Soon to be getting a job in downtown Detroit which will cut into my riding a bunch, but anything to pay the bills, right?

Long live the cheap gas pipe bike! :)

Hey folks,
Live in Plymouth, MI. Drive my trike as much as I can. Try to make my way onto Heinz Parkway. I like to do intervals, so I will give a roadie a bit of a head-start, and then reel him in while climbing up a hill. Then I hammer it down the other side of the hill. Most times I just reel in the roadies and then let them go - after they have gotten an earful of my gears clicking as I coast. Have met more people on this trike; I love it. Waiting for them to finish work on the I-275 bike path. It will be nice when the path hooks up to the connector to the bike trails of Willow Metro park, Oakwood park, and to Lower Huron park. Might take another year. Cheers, UncleD

There's a new bike website:

It's a LOCAL bike website, for Johnson County. And I had to look under "Maps" before I found it is Johnson County , IOWA.

I'm from Augusta, Wisconsin - About 25 miles South East of Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Home of the almost world famous Stage Coach Bicycle Route.
Approximately 21 miles round trip with alternate loops. Mostly easy but a few steep hills. A scenic route that follows along a lightly traveled road and is perfect for a family bicycle outing. Available year round and no pass is required for route use. Trailhead located in Augusta just off Hwy. 12/27 on Stone St.

If you ever come and ride the route, give me a heads up and I will give the the guided tour.

Perham / New York Mills area in MN. I just bought a Trek 1.1, my first road bike. I will be commuting 12.6 miles to work once the snow melts. Should be fun (better than riding on a trainer in the basement)!

checking in from Milwaukee. I'm a student at UW-Milwaukee and was inspired to shift toward daily commuting via bike while living in China. I now get about 6 miles in a day and look forward to longer rides on the weekends. I ride a Kona fixed gear.

I live in Oak Brook, Illinois - about 25 miles West of Chicago. I've just gotten back into riding after two years out due to a severely broken left ankle, and I moved to Oak brook during the recovery, so I'm still learning where I ride and getting my riding legs back. Before that, I lived in Plainfield, IL, and I'm m originally from Beloit, WI and went to high school in Madison, WI. Back in the day, I rode all over both Beloit and Madison on a 1975 Schwinn Varsity, which was stolen. Now I'm restoring a 1975 Schwinn Continental. ( http://1975continental.blogspot.com )

Fredonia, WI, north of Milwaukee and not far from The Lake. From here, quiet county roads lead in all directions, but my favorite rides are north into the glaciated hills of the Kettle Moraine State Forest.

Yeah and you and your family can go look for a job in the suburbs and stop walking around Downtown looking clueless. I don't pay for city stickers because I do not drive, no fuel tax either and the other taxes I do pay I am glad to pay and contribute. Like I said... you can keep the Suburbs or whatever you consider Crown Point!:thumb:

Edit: Oh, when it comes time to do some real shopping, partying, and dinning out, why not do that in Crown Point? Deal? Thanks...
