Sure thing man, I'm #3788 on FGG, and I've really been meaning to do at least one century. I'm in Kentucky right now, so I might be a little slow to reply. The hills weren't all that I was expecting.

so instead of eating turkey and pounding down a week's worth of calories in one meal, lets ride around downtown and enjoy our fine city.
reasons why:
1)biking is fun
2)it'll be nice weather (50 and sunny)
3)downtown will be empty
meet at 1pm in public square thanksgiving afternoon

Looks like I will be the new guy in town. Moving to the Avon Lake area in early October. I am primarily a roadie who races occasionally. The wife and I also share a tandem when time allows and my son and I enjoy mountain biking together.

Cuyahoga Falls here. Ride my 88 World Sport throughout CVNP and surrounding roads. Completely addicted after a 20 year hiatus.

Small world, I live in Broadview Hts and so far have done most of my riding on the towpath. My outdoor riding is just about done for this year as I've started classes again and don't have the time to ride like I did earlier this year.

West Park. I generally ride the Metro Parks or go out to either Medina or Lorain counties to ride the country roads.

Mid- way between Medina and Brunstucky. Ride solo or in groups whenever possible. Average 130 miles/week in warmer weather and ride whenever possible now, including after dark. Do take a break to ice fish.

If anyone from Cleveland happens to read this within the next week...
I'm gonna be on the east side (Shaker) next week (probably wednesday to sat or sun). I'm doubting there are any group rides going on over the holiday, but the only way I'll manage to entertain myself is riding at least 50mi/day there. so if anyone has ride suggestions (of course I've ridden there before, but damnit, it's hillier than philly. boo.) or wants to join me let me know.
geo, I live on the west side (not quite as hilly) and my club, as well as me, will be doing rides. How far you willing to come? The club rides maybe shorter than you are looking for but, we can always tack on some miles if you are interested.
I could even meet you half way if that would work out better for you, I'm off work that week so Wednesday would be a doer.
Let me know, DAN

I should be pretty free next week for a ride or three :) I am on the west side (Avon) but could meet you for a ride. Maybe the Metroparks?

yay responses!
I'd be interested in the metroparks, as I've never really ridden there. my usual Cleveland rides are out towards/around the Chagrin River and back...or something that direction.
A shorter ride on the west side might not be bad, but I'd rather not have to drive to ride.
so, to either of you (leinad and gary), let me know if you have any ideas. I'll be driving there on Wednesday, so can't really ride that day. but thurs/fri/saturday are good.
also, warning: I'm SLOW.
geo, define, SLOW! I generally end up with average speeds in the 17.5 and above range, on rides of 50 miles and up.

Hey I;m in Garfield Hts,
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, could kiss your feet!
I wanted to ride this holiday, so bad. I have looked outside of work like a kid looking out the school window the first week of June...can't wait to get out there. Thought I'd be riding by myself. I need to ride. I got to ride!
Let's ride!

Do you and a group ride on Saturday mornings on the roads that parallel the Tow Path? Were u riding with about 5 folks the day they had all the kiddie stuff: train ride, animals?
No, that's not me. I'm done outside for the season as I've started back at college so that kills most of my free time.

The Saturday I am speaking about was in the summer. I was riding the tow path and had to divert to the streets because they had all the little kids there riding a train around the visitor information site up on the hill above the Tow Path, simular to the one at Tower City during Christmas. I was riding down 49th st back toward Bacci park and ran into a group of riders from Brecksville. They were flying and I joined them. Along the way I kinda got into a conversation with the tail man and thats when I found out they ride on Saturday mornings and were headed back to Brecksville.

The thermometer must be stuck! For the last 72 hours, since early Thanksgiving Day morning the temperature at Burke Airport has hardly moved. The low during the period was 29F and the was 39F. Most of the time it was between 30F and 34F.

Welcome to last year Ben...LoL
What type of riding are you into Ben? Long fast rides or shorter more casual? Road or paths....etc?
There are 3 or 4 of us on here from around the Cleveland area that ride together on a pretty regular basis. Would love to make that group bigger.

It's 53°F near the shore of Lake Erie! But it will be days before any of the roads will be safe to ride on. The big piles of snow are everywhere.

I don't know. I did 30 some miles on Lake Road today (Avon to West Lake to Lorain loop) with no issues. There were a few spots where there was deepish water by the roads edge but nothing you couldn't navigate around.

WHAT!? As we all know, I'm captain safety (pause NOT) and the roads are like summer roads for me. Sure there's some slush kickback from tires in some areas, but to be able to be affected by it, you've got to be an awful rider.:D
I didn't ride today, my calves are still hurting a little bit from yesterday, right where that one vein pokes out on each calf, it's wierd. Anyways, I might be doing a flat ride tomorrow on my hardest gear on the track bike, only like 20 minutes at full intensity.

I got out today on my bicycle. I posted fliers in some of the stores at 3:00pm for a bicycle ride and the ride departed at 5:00 pm. It was really spontanious and of course no one came so I just biked down to Coventry by myself. I did bump into a ClevelandBikes lady and I followed her to the grocery store because I was bored and thrilled to see another cyclist. My idea of a good riding group is a few people who I call when Im bored and want to get out. Thanks for the reply Garysol maybe we can go somewhere sometime.
