BMX - Is this ebay bike a good buy and or a good bike.

I'm just getting started into bmx (yeah I know it's a little old to be starting new hobbies of this sort) and want to get a good bike for a good price without getting ripped off. btw I'm just over 5'7 and 210 lbs and most of my riding will be street and a little trail riding from time to time.

You would be thoroughly cramped on the solid, due to your height and the extremely short toptube. The haro isn't worth nearly that much.

Awsome. Thanks for the advice. I saw on your profile that you ride Fit Pro. I had been looking at that bike before. I saw this one on ebay as well but thought the buy now price was too high (idk) What is the max you would suggest giving for it?

You could get used to the size, I'm 5'11 and ride a 20.5 TT, which at times actually seems a little big. The solid will probably go for like 5x the price that's on there now though..

5'11 here and I ride a 20" TT.

I don't know why but I just get a weird feeling about that seller with the solid bike. I probably won't take a chance with that one. I see a lot of ppl talking about Dan's comp I'll probably look around on there and come back with a few bikes that fit what I'm looking for. Do you think it would be better to just get a new bike than to take a chance buying a used one with aftermarket parts and stuff? I just don't like the idea of buying someone else's problems.

New would probably be good. A lot of bikes that are being sold might be the bike that the person learned grinds on, and will be beat up, and it might be the one they learned wrenching on, so some of the work might not be, uh.. professional.

On the other hand, a smooth rider who knows how to work on bikes and has been doing it for a while would be able to ride a bike for a few years without really breaking anything, and it'd still be fine for someone else to buy and ride for a while too.

You can tell if the person tried learning grinds on the bike if you see that the chainstays are beat to sh1t. That's how my bike looks. Grinding does take a while to learn. It took me a few weeks, until one day I made a 'mistake', and did a feeble. That's how I learned to grind, I did something different by accident.

That's way too expensive (much more than the price of a brand new one)... and I don't even think that is a 2006.

EDIT: It's not an '06. The '06 has a noticably different sprocket and different back rim, among other things.
