I know, I've been going up there a lot lately, but some of us are talking about going again this Saturday and I'm trying to see if there's any interest here on BF. It's the perfect hot weather ride. I'll post details as they are determined.

Hey Fixer, sorry to hear that, hope to see you at Baldy on the 2nd.
Hi John,
I can't make it because I am taking my youngest on an overnight "car camping" trip. I was thinking about one of the campgrounds off of Angeles Crest Highway. Where does the road close to cars these days? TIA.

Cleave, as of 3 weeks ago the road was open to cars as far as Islip Saddle, which is where hwy 39 is. There is some parking blocked off, but many campgrounds are open. A few weeks before that, they had a gate several miles before Islip because of an endangered frog. I like camping as high up as possible for the cool air.

You all have a great ride up there as usual ... and have fun! Thanks, Fixer. We did have a fun ride, very beautiful up there, once again, cool, with nice views. 8 riders showed up, and 7 of us did the 60 mile version with 7000 feet of climbing. Then there was Keith, freshly disappointed by the cancelation of "Son of Death Ride", who started at the bottom and did extras for about 13000 feet!
I just love riding up there, it's so quiet once you pass the gate, it's tough to come back down. See you next week.
p.s. valleygirl took some pics, if we can figure it out, we'll post them.

Wow, 12 years old and you want to climb Angeles Crest! Good Boy! I'm not sure of an age limit. I would say these are a San Fernando Valley Bike club rides and we would go according to thier rules.
