United Kingdom - Should this Sub-Forum inlcude Ireland

Should the UK sub-forum include the Republic of Ireland or should that country be part of the Europe sub-forum?

Are there any Irish forum members who have an opinion?

You could ask Joe to rename it British Isles? I think geographically that includes both northern and southern Ireland. Or even Britain and Ireland, which sounds pretty all-encompassing to me.

Renaming it to British Isles would technically encompass Ireland.

UK would include Northern Ireland, if you said Britain & Ireland it would be pretty clear. At least to me but I'm an Englishman.

I think the United Kingdom section should be renamed UK & Ireland. That way things are clear.

Did you do geography at all in school?? Do you even watch the news????? Ireland and Britian are in Europe. Ireland uses the Euro as its currency and has been a member of the EU formerly EEC since the early 70's.
Agree with voices being heard. But the two are seperate states.

'Britain and Ireland' or 'UK and Ireland' is much better. "British Isles" implies that they are one state - which they are clearly not, but seeing as traffic stays to the left in both states, and that this is a cycling forum, then it makes sense that Ireland isn't under Europe in this forum. Though Ireland, like the UK is part of the EU.

All this geography, history and politics is exhausting! :)

Although British Isles is a correct term for both Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland, it annoys a lot of Irish who think it makes them sound like they are part of Britain.

IMO this sub forum should be renamed Britain and Ireland. This covers all bases.

I think its more useful to have England, Wales and Scotland kept seperate from Ireland (be it Northen Ire or Republic of.), purely because they're seperate land masses. Ireland really ought to have its own Sub-forum as a subset of Regional Discussions in my opinion.

Ireland should be part of the Europe sub-forum it would be alot handier for reading and replying to posts with an Irish topic.
