Hi

I have got my hands on an old road bike built by Italian Tecnotrat for a Danish brand called Banani. I wonder what kind of tubing the frame is built in. It says "superlight tubing 0.8mm carbon manganese c-18" on the sticker. What is this and what quality? I have read a post about this before but didn't get any answers.

I would be happy to know a bit more about this. Thank's,

Nobody's touching this one, so I can't resist...how much damage could I do? Seems likely it's straight-gauge tubing (.8mm indicates a wall thickness), maganese alloyed steel seems like it might be similar to Hi-Magny or such. Never heard of steel called "C18", but common mild steel is C1018 and half-hard tempered could be C1008. I doubt this would be what we'd call "superlight", but more like a middling grade...maybe better than gaspipe.
