I have received a few comments that the forums need descriptions, of what can or can not, be posted in each forum. How does everyone else feel on this? Should I put them in? If so, should it be strict, or humorous? Anyone want to write up ideas for forum descriptions? :)

There are too many rules in this world already, Joe! :(

Also, I feel the forums structure is already complicated enough--one of the very good things about bikeforums.com is how easy it is to negotiate/navigate compared to many other forums. But if it starts getting more complex, that advantage will disappear.

On the rare occasions when something inappropriate is posted, you have stepped in to remedy things. Even if you get to the point where you can't personally read everything (which I would well understand!)--having rules does nothing to prevent people who don't respect them from breaking them. It's just an encumbrance.

I'm with Jon on this one. Descriptions are cool as they leave no question as to what is to come, but enforcement is another thing. Once you really get to the point of "enforcing" a thread rule that's when people start saying nasty things about you and your forum on hte web...not a nice thing, not worth the trouble. I say this only from experience, where I have to enforce content rules on my company's Intranet. I am not the most popular guy at work, but I do get the job done.

The forum names seem self-explanatory to me. Descriptions would just clutter the screens.

I agree with Ray, the descriptions are self explanatory, and it works, for the most part, quite well.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I truly would like to see things stay as they are for a few more months at least; there have been quite a few changes lately as it is. I start to worry about stability.
