what information should i have in my book? (ie. waking HR, route, distance, etc.)
The information you need is best determined by what it is you're trying to do. Weight loss, racing, endurance, etc.
Generally speaking, the more info the better. If your goals or ideals change down the line you're more likely to have the info you thought you'd never need if you track everything.
But the big items to track are distance, avg. speed. HR, time, weight, type of course, And I like to make a lot of notes about weather and how I'm feeling etc.
Resting HR taken first thing in the morning. How do you feel?
The plan for the day, distance and type of activity, ie., type of interval.
Injuries? Potential injury?
Changes made? Adjust position?
Nutrition for the day, during and after ride.
Weather, time of day
Stress in your life?
And of course HR data for the workout.
Stuff like that
