Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Today I was hangin' at my LBS when a young woman comes in to shop for a road bike. She looks at 3 different models, a Trek 7300, a LeMond Etape and a Trek 1000WSD. After test riding all 3 of them and asking a myriad of questions she tells the salesman that she will go to lunch and return with her husband. She leaves....and some time later returns with her hubby and buys the Trek 1000WSD. As she is getting her pedals changed to clipless and checking out, she looks over to me and says..."YOU'RE STILL HERE?!" I guess that meant it was time for me to go. So I said my so longs and left, the guys at the shop in riotous fits of laughter. Good thing they don't have beer there.
Cheers,
Brian
Not bike related, but...
I had to go to my local hardware store today. They have old wooden chairs lined up by the side door (even a rocking chair) for people to sit and stay awhile. The even have snacks (Lance crackers and Honeybuns) on a shelf with some tools.
Of course, it is a "real" hardware store. Wooden floors, no A/C, nails by the pound, etc. Real trip to go into and look around. I walked around it today thinking....where's Barney?
I've had very similar experiences at my lbs. It's easy to lose track of time when you are hanging out.

My LBS would probably start charging rent if someone stayed long enough for someone to make that comment, then high five the next OCP that came in
I used to work in a stereo shop and we had people who would come in a just hang out for hours. Now that I don't work there anymore, I'll stop by to see old friends and hang out for a couple of hours sometimes.

One of my LBSes is that way. The local cycle club gathers there on Saturdays after the morning ride, hang out, doing what we used to call "rack racing":p Someone usually has a big pot of coffee and some bagels available. If I happen to go thru there I will give em some grief. But I have spent my fair share of time hanging out at the shop too:rolleyes:

What kind of job do you have that you can stay away from work THAT long and not be missed? Where do I apply? ;)
