Joe please restore the Rants 'n' Raves section so that we poor madmen have a place where it's ok to vent on non political subjects. (In accordance with the guidlines of course.) This way people won't stumble over our foamy mouthed thread and declare us all rabid.

Lets give this new layout a try first. In the mean time, if you must rant, preface your thread title with "RANT:" in the main lounge forum... ;)

>shakes head< If that's the way you want it I just liked it better the way it was. Political Discussion could have been a sub catagory. Oh well. I'll try anything once. >shrug<

I'll think about restoring the Rants & Raves forum. It got to the point where the last 35 threads where all political, very few actual rants. The same can be said with the News & Current Events forum; very few news items that do NOT deal with political issues. It will take awhile for that forum to develop where i want it.

Being relatively new to the forum (<200 posts) I have enjoyed all the forums, but especially the Rants 'n' Raves. I definitely vote to bring it back. Free speech (and the insuing discussion) is very important in this country and the Rants 'n' Raves was part of that. Regardless of who said what.

Free speech is something I believe in, however, even free speech can only be taken so far before it gets completely offensive.

I don't miss Rants n Raves at all...

Thanks Joe!

The right to free speech means that the government can't restrict what you say. Simply enough, this is not a government owned forum.

Hey Joe, I think the changes you've made are good. I have always come here to relax, enjoy, and most often gain respect for all the good folks on this forum.
That said, I too am guilty of contributing to some of the "Political" discussions so rampant here lately. Guess I should now better, but  !
That said, Having reviewed the current candidates, I hereby nominate Joe Gardner for President 2004

Hi Joe,

First, thank you for running this forum. It is very well done, to say the least.

Classification is an interesting subject that I'm sure you are constantly wrestling with. I just wanted to add my input that I found it pretty funny that you even had a "Rant and Raves" forum. Nice and easy. If you're steamed, or enjoy listening to what steams other people, you know right where to click and start venting. And that's the way us ranters like it. In fact, my most common rant is about things not being easy to use. And another thing...

Anyway, your idea about prefacing non-political rants in the Lounge should work and I'll give it a try, but I vote to possibly restore full forum status to the topic in the future.

And, I would be happy to second Inoch's nomination should you choose to run in 2004.:)
