This past Saturday I rode the Blazing Saddles Century (http://www.nscyc.org/century.htm) with some friends. The weather started off cloudy, but it turned into a perfect day; sunshine, blue skies, wonderful countryside, and then there was the ice-cream. I wish I'd taken more, but here (http://www.k1wd.com/misc/bike/rides/2006/Blazing-Saddles/) are some of the few pictures I took. Anyone else from BF ride there on Saturday?

The ride was well-marked and would have been navigable even without a map; great food at the rest-stops, and very friendly people. Great organisation - thanks again to the North Shore Cyclists! (especially for the nice weather :) )

I didn't ride Blazing Saddles, but instead went to Greenfield, MA for the Deerfield Dirt Road Randonee on Saturday. 100 miles w/ 70 miles of unpaved road in the Pioneer Valley w/ 11,000 feet of climbing. Utterly gorgeous, yet also unbearably brutal. Had to tap out and DNF after 50 miles because getting lost between 15% grades was just an extra toll that my body couldn't pay.

Unfortunately, we didn't get to share in the good weather, either. Pretty damp and cool all day, which wasn't bad. Gave us a good reason to keep on pedaling and keep the sweat from cooling down.

As one of the friends, I can attest to the veracity of the claim:)
