A friend returned from a trip to New York and remarked that now there
are many pedicabs in Manhatten. I didn't notice any when I was there a
few years ago. When I googled to find some photos or something I saw
articles from New York newspapers about some of the issues in this expanding
bike business. It seems like the business has become successful but is starting
to run into a mix of political and regulatory issues. Here are some random links google showed to me. A person thinking of starting a car free business that
competes with the car culture might be interested in the insurance and licensing issues and with the calls for stricter regulation.
